A man has been arrested during a flight between a popular holiday destination and one of Australia's busiest airports.

The man had to be restrained by cabin crew after allegedly assaulting a crew member on Qantas flight QF46 between Bali and Melbourne.

Details about what happened during the flight are not yet known, but Qantas has confirmed that an incident occurred during the flight between Denpasar and Melbourne.

The cabin crew is being questioned.

Video obtained by Nine News shows other passengers struggling with the man before he is pinned face down in the aisle by a crew member.

Passengers who have since left the flight say the man was reportedly excited, shouting and screaming before the 'episode' took place.

Airport police were ready to meet the aircraft upon arrival and have now brought the situation under control.

Qantas said the safety of its customers and crew is its top priority, with the company having zero tolerance for disruptive or threatening behavior.
