A Singapore-bound plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Darwin after an allegedly drunk passenger threatened the crew.

The Qantas plane departed for Darwin around 4pm on Sunday, where the male passenger was escorted from the plane by four cabin crew.

Qantas said they were dealing with a ‘medical emergency’, but one passenger claimed the man taken off the plane had been ‘disruptive’, drank his own drink, threatened the crew and repeatedly used the word ‘explosive’ had said.

The Qantas plane departed for Darwin around 4pm on Sunday, where the male passenger was escorted from the plane by four cabin crew.

“The passenger taunted the cabin crew to arrest him but said, ‘I’m going to Singapore, don’t you dare deviate’,” the onlooker said. NT news.

‘He drank from his own 750ml wine bottle… claiming he had to do so because he was an alcoholic, and then threatened the cabin crew.

‘He was clearly agitated, combative and appeared heavily under the influence of alcohol.

“He said he was ‘a criminal’.”

After the man was removed from the plane, police reportedly searched his seat.

“The flight was diverted due to a passenger on board requiring medical attention,” a Qantas spokesperson said.
