A Qantas flight from Adelaide to Canberra was forced to turn back after a ‘disturbing odour’ was detected on board.
Flight QF1974, which departed Adelaide at 11:20am on Monday and was scheduled to land in Canberra at 1:25pm, failed to reach its destination after returning airborne.
Cabin crew aboard the aircraft smelled fumes about 10 minutes into the flight and alerted the cockpit while the pilot then contacted the flight tower to request an immediate landing in Adelaide.
The aircraft landed safely back at Adelaide Airport and there were no injuries, despite the presence of firefighters as a safety measure.
The aircraft is now thoroughly checked.
