Vladimir Putin’s forces have killed nearly fifty Ukrainians while shopping at a supermarket in a village in the eastern region of Kharkov – the latest in a series of barbaric rocket attacks targeting innocent civilians.

The rocket attack destroyed a cafe and a shop in the village of Hroza in Kharkiv’s Kupyansk district in mid-afternoon, which at the time was filled with men, women and children.

The local governor said at least 49 people, including a six-year-old boy, were killed in today’s horrific attack. Harrowing images from the scene: the bodies of the victims were lined up on the side of the road.

President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is meeting Western leaders including British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to plead for more aid, condemned Russia for the massacre.

“The brazen Russian crime of a missile hitting an ordinary supermarket is a completely deliberate terrorist attack,” Zelensky said in a statement on social media.

The village is about 30 kilometers (20 miles) west of Kupiansk, a frontline city where Mosco’s forces are trying to recapture territory they lost to Ukrainian forces last year. It is estimated that about 500 people lived there before the war.
