Putin ‘should have nuked Queen’s funeral’, Russian propagandist says

Putin should have destroyed the Queen’s funeral while world leaders were all in one place, one of the Kremlin’s most prominent propagandists has stated.

Olga Skabeyeva, dubbed Putin’s “Iron Doll,” made the uncanny suggestion last night — just hours after Her Majesty’s body was buried at the end of 11 days of mourning.

The 37-year-old – who is married to a Russian politician – spoke to guests about when and where her country could use its nuclear weapons when she said: ‘We should have done it today, the best people are [in Britain] before the funeral.’

She then added with a wry grin, “God forgive me.”

Skabeyeva made the comment in response to guest Andrey Gurulev, a retired general and current MP, who rejected claims that Russia would attack Ukraine.

“We still have to live there in Ukraine,” he said. ‘We have enough goals. Ramstein [airbase in Germany] is a good thick one, but it can wait.

“Why bomb Ukraine or Germany if Britain is the root of evil?”

With just a small number of Russian strikes, the UK could be ‘white-blooded’ and turned into a ‘waste of Mars’, he said, before NATO ‘withdrawal’.

“If Britain is turned into a wasteland on Mars, what will Article 5 of NATO mean? [defending collective security] about,” he said.

“Defending the wasteland of Mars? There won’t be anything there anymore. An unshakable island – it will be shaky.’

Gurulev’s comments come as the Russian propagandists try to understand the latest humiliation on their country’s battlefield after their troops were routed near Kharkov.

Unlike previous withdrawals from Kiev and around Snake Island, Russian state media is struggling to portray the debacle as anything but defeat.

But instead of admitting that they were beaten by Ukraine, Putin’s spokesmen claim that NATO forces are directly involved in the battle and have defeated them instead.

That has led to more calls for Russia to hit back at NATO allies.

Former military alliance commanders have also warned of the risk that Putin could resort to nuclear weapons if his invasion falters.

Rose Gottemoeller, who served as the alliance’s deputy secretary general from 2016 to 2019, said the Russians could “hit back in really unpredictable ways” after the Kharkov defeat.

Ms. Gottemoeller said those attacks could include firing a nuclear weapon in the Black Sea or at a Ukrainian military base as a demonstration of power.

“The goal would be to make the Ukrainians, in their terror, capitulate,” she explained.

Ms Gottemoeller said Russia is unlikely to use long-range weapons of the kind that could hit Britain or the US, but hopes to dissuade Ukraine’s western allies from supporting its war effort.

Asked on the BBC about how the West should react in the event of a nuclear attack, she added: “I emphasize that if [the Russians] If we go that route, we shouldn’t react nuclearly.

‘[We] must leverage our other significant capabilities, whether that be cyber response or conventional [weapons] answer.’

She also stressed that Western military aid and training to Ukraine should continue, but diplomatic channels should remain open to the Kremlin.

When asked what the West should say to Putin, she said: “We’ve done an excellent job of sending a clear message to Moscow: ‘No impunity’.

‘We know what you’re up to, you won’t get away with it’

“If there’s a move towards weapons of mass destruction, and I’ve seen no indication so far that there is, but if there is, then we need to get it out there and tell the Russians, ‘No impunity here’.” .’
