Putin cancels annual major press conference ‘until Russian military situation is more stable’ – as Ukraine counter-offensive kicks off
Vladimir Putin has reportedly canceled a major press conference until Russia’s military situation is “more stable” – if a massive Ukrainian counterattack gets under way.
The Russian president was supposed to hold the annual talk in June, but is said to have postponed it for months.
Russian news outlet Kommersant cited Kremlin sources as saying the chat could be postponed until December.
They said the live forum would be postponed until the “Russian military situation is more stable.”
Putin was due to hold the press conference early this month after Russian forces reportedly captured Bakhmut, analysts at the Institute for the Study of War think tank told Sky News.

But the planned attack in the eastern region failed and continued until Wagner’s thugs intervened.
“It indicates that the Kremlin views the capture of Bakhmut as an insufficiently informative victory to compensate for the volatile Russian military situation in Ukraine,” the experts said.
“It further illustrates Putin’s decline from an ostensibly engaged and strong leader to one more often portrayed as minutely involved in small infrastructure projects.”
Meanwhile, anti-Putin rebels wreaked havoc in the leader’s backyard. Its occupied cities in Ukraine have also been attacked.
A possibly British-supplied Storm Shadow missile is said to have hit the port of Berdiansk in Russian-occupied Ukraine, causing ‘destruction’.
Now Putin’s once unshakable grip on power is in question – with potential successors beginning to close in on him.
This week, fighting began to rage on Ukraine’s front lines, suggesting that Ukraine’s long-awaited counter-offensive has finally begun.
The new wave of attacks could significantly undermine Putin as fear begins to spread among the Russian elite and the people who previously considered themselves protected.
