Vladimir Putin has accused the West of provoking war, destabilizing energy markets and triggering a global food crisis in a key speech in Moscow.
The Russian leader, explaining his distorted view of the world, tried to lay the blame for various ills at the feet of the West, while exonerating himself from all blame.
In what appeared to be an effort to strengthen his alliances in China and Africa, he accused Western countries of provocation around Taiwan and of preventing food from reaching global markets.
And, in a stunning piece of double-thinking, he also accused the West of “fanning the flames” of the war in Ukraine and of rejecting Russia’s peace proposals.
“The rule of the world is what West has decided to bet in this game,” he told his audience. “It’s a dangerous, deadly and dirty game.”
While Russia is trying to create a “multipolar world order,” Putin said, the West is trying to “wipe out diversity” by “cancelling” everything it doesn’t like.
Putin, who sent his troops to Ukraine on Feb. 24, has expressed Western support for Ukraine as part of Washington and its allies wide-ranging efforts to enforce what they call a rules-based world order that will only cause chaos.
The Russian leader warned that ‘he who sows wind will reap whirlwind’.
Putin claimed that “humanity now faces a choice: pile up a bunch of problems that will inevitably crush us all, or try to find solutions that may not be ideal, but that will work and make the world more stable and secure.”
Putin said Russia is not the enemy of the West, but will continue to resist the dictates of Western neoliberal elites.
