In the post, the pub wrote: ‘I am extremely proud to have received this review from someone who I expect is a lovely, well-rounded person.

“Name changed for fun. Anyone know where we should send them next time they come in?”

The owner also uploaded a photo of a fictional book to accompany the review, with the caption: ‘Everything I don’t like is WOKE. A book for basic d********.’

The post quickly gained a lot of attention from loyal customers who defended the pub, but at the same time ridiculed the disgruntled customer’s review.

Someone suggested: ‘You should definitely make a beer mat out of this.’

Another wrote: ‘Clearly a woke pub, or how do you explain the Guardian recommending you 12 years ago?’

A third was furious: ‘A woke pub? Whoever comes up with a description like that is a Class One T*****t. Absolute s***e. I’ve been drinking at Port Street Beer House since it opened and there’s nothing ‘woke’ about it.’

‘They’re just bearded blokes in a modern pub serving real craft ales. Woke, my a**e. Pathetic.’

Despite the odd negative review, the vast majority of guests praise Port Street Beer House for its excellent selection of drinks and inviting atmosphere. A recent Google review reads: ‘Great beers at very reasonable prices for the area.

‘The bar snacks are also top notch. Wide selection of beers, lagers and ales. Plenty of seating inside and out. The decor is understated but adds to the atmosphere.’

This happened after a cafe owner was called an ‘angry little man’ by a customer who left a scathing review because he had to pay for his drink.

Heath Ball, owner of the Red Lion & Sun pub in Highgate, was left ‘flabbergasted’ when a customer helped himself to a frozen cocktail from the venue’s machine as if it was free.
