Gabrielle Carey, the author of the iconic Australian novel Puberty Blues, has passed away.
She was 64 and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
Mrs. Carey co-wrote Puberty Blues with Kathy Lette in 1979 and was the couple’s first published book.
The book generated controversy for its candid descriptions of teenage life in suburban South Sydney at the time.
A movie based on the novel was released in 1981 and the television series aired in 2012.
