PSG ‘win the race to sign Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Moscardo after agreeing £17m fee’… beating the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool for the Corinthians midfielder

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly won the race to sign Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Moscardo, despite interest from the Premier League.

Previous reports suggested Chelsea were leading the race to sign the 18-year-old from Corinthians, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Spanish side Barcelona also interested.

However, French giants PSG have swooped in and appear to have secured the youngster's services.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that a verbal agreement has been reached between the clubs on a £17 million deal.

The package also includes a further £1.7 million in add-ons, and the player will fly to Paris once the clubs sign a formal agreement.

Moscardo previously claimed in an interview last month that Chelsea had made an approach for him.

He said: 'There was an offer from Chelsea months ago, but I talk to my agent and my parents a lot and they try to give me information.

“They say it's not long until the end of the season, they say I have to commit and perform well, and there will be good things at the end of the season.”

Moscardo was recently called up to the Brazil Under-23s and has made 18 appearances in the Brazilian league this season, scoring one goal as Corinthians finished 13th in the standings.

He is currently enjoying a break after Brazil's season reached its conclusion earlier this month.

Corinthians president Augusto Melo confirmed in a recent interview that Moscardo decided to join PSG.

Melo told Radio Bandeirantes according to Foot Mercato: 'Unfortunately the cycle has ended, his thoughts are elsewhere, we have given him the freedom to choose, may he be happy. He's going to Paris.'

Chelsea have signed three Brazilians in 2023, starting with the highly-rated Andrey Santos from Vasco da Gama for £16 million.
