PSG ‘plot swoop for Man City star Bernardo Silva as replacement for Inter Miami-bound Lionel Messi’

PSG ‘plot swoop for Man City star Bernardo Silva’ with Portugal international – under contract until 2025 – seen as ‘replacement for Lionel Messi’

Paris Saint-Germain are planning a move for Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva this summer, according to reports.

The Portuguese striker still has a two-year contract with the Etihad, but could end his six-year stay at the club this summer should PSG’s interest lead to a bid.

The versatile Silva – able to play in a number of midfield and attacking roles – is seen as the ideal replacement for Lionel Messi.

The Argentine legend confirmed he will be leaving the Parc des Princes after just two seasons to join David Beckham’s Inter Miami in MLS.

French outlet magazine Le Parisien reports that the 28-year-old could arrive in the summer transfer window to join the Ligue 1 champions in the absence of the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Le Parisien’s report claims PSG chief Luis Campos has outlined Silva as the club’s main target in the off-season.

The French titans are set to face Silva in a devastating first three, including their talisman Kylian Mbappé and another summer signing, Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

PSG have been quick to wrap things up this season and have expanded their attacking midfield by signing former Real Madrid star Marco Asensio for free.

However, City is unlikely to be willing to part with their star given his outstanding performance during his spell at the club.

Under Pep Guardiola, Silva blossomed to become one of the world’s leading attacking talents in midfield, scoring 55 goals and 59 assists in 305.

And with two years left in his contract, it could take a hefty fee to persuade the club to let him go to a club they are likely to see as a rival in next season’s Champions League.

The 28-year-old will be gearing up to win this season’s trophy against Inter Milan on Saturday afternoon in Istanbul for a chance to complete a historic Treble.
