‘It worked out well for everyone except Chelsea’: PSG boss Luis Campos mocks Blues over failed Hakim Ziyech deadline day loan move, claiming French giants ‘did everything’ to complete move

  • PSG boss Luis Campos criticized Chelsea for the collapse of Hakim Ziyech’s loan deal
  • While the player was ready, Campos said that ‘it didn’t work well for the last game’
  • Instead, Ziyech returned to Stamford Bridge, where he began to draw with Fulham.

PSG boss Luis Campos has hit out at Chelsea after their paperwork problems hampered a proposed loan move that would have landed Hakim Ziyech in Paris.

The Moroccan midfielder looked set to join the French champions until the end of the season, but missed phone calls and unsigned documents delayed the process until time was up.

As Sportsmail reported midweek, the French league rejected an appeal by PSG and Ziyech was forced to return to London.

Paris Saint-Germain sports adviser Campos told Telefoot that the situation was the fault of the Premier League team, through no fault of the Ligue1 leaders, as Ziyech was at their headquarters in France and had undergone a medical.

Campos said: ‘We had the player with us, we had done everything. But as with all transfers, he needs all three parts to work well.

‘In this case it worked very well for Paris Saint-Germain, it also worked well with Ziyech.

‘Unfortunately, it didn’t work out well for the last party.’

Following the problems on Tuesday, Chelsea said the situation was caused by a computer glitch.

Another report of the deadline day chaos revealed four missed calls from PSG made to Chelsea, in an attempt to get them to send the correct documents, which failed.

The Blues were also involved in trying to finalize a big deal to capture Enzo Fernández for a club record fee, obviously stretching their resources beyond what PSG might have expected from a fellow European heavyweight.

Elsewhere in the interview, Campos said it was a key part of PSG policy to focus on their younger players, and that they were “discussing” the question of extending Lionel Messi’s stay in the French capital.

Without Ziyech to bolster their options, PSG still sit top of the Ligue 1 table and were able to secure a comeback to win 2-1 at home to Toulouse on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Ziyech played the first hour of Chelsea’s 0-0 draw with Fulham on Friday night, before being replaced by Raheem Sterling.
