Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi were both on the scoresheet for PSG as the Ligue 1 champions extended their lead at the top of the table to nine points after beating second-placed Lens 3-1 in Paris.
The game at the top of the table was expected to be a stern test of the Parisians’ resolve, but Lens barely resisted as PSG scored three goals in less than 10 minutes at the Parc des Princes.
Mbappé opened the scoring in the 31st minute after linking up with Portuguese midfielder Vitinha to see his final shot bounce off the post.
Six minutes later, the assister became the goalscorer as Vitinha’s powerful effort from outside the box beat former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba at the near post.
Argentina’s World Cup winning captain Messi completed a blistering passage in which he combined passes with Mbappé and coolly finished past the helpless Lens shot-stopper.
