PS5 Pro Seemingly Accidentally Revealed in New PlayStation Illustration

Sony may have just confirmed the existence of the PS5 Pro console, giving a sneak peek into some recent PlayStation artwork used to celebrate the console’s 30th anniversary.

In a official playstation blog post The banner art further elaborates on the upcoming festivities for the 30th anniversary of the PS1’s launch. The banner features several vague images of Sony peripherals from over the years. The profile of a console that appears to share a similar design to this image matches previous leaks, most notably one posted by noted leaker ‘Billbil-kun’.

This was a sketch of the alleged design of the console, which resembled a PS5 Slim with a number of black grooves on the outside.

A close-up of the console profile can be seen in the 30th anniversary illustration below.

While it’s difficult to determine the dimensions of the upcoming system from this latest image, the illustration of the PS5 Slim on it does give us a good point of comparison. You can see that below for reference.

They appear to be roughly the same size, suggesting that the PS5 Pro will indeed have a similar form factor to the PS5 Slim. Since this is only a 2D side-on image, we also can’t get a good idea of thickness or height. The leak suggested the PS5 Pro would be thicker than the PS5 Slim, but we’ll obviously have to wait and see whether that’s the case.

Fans on social media platform X / Twitter like commenter Wario64 have also emphasized this, as more and more people seem to be connecting the dots, while PlayStation itself posted the caption ‘Your first look 👀’ on Instagram with the artwork.

Rumors and leaks surrounding the PS5 Pro have been aplenty this summer, from hints at potential power increases to increased storage to cooler operation, but this is the first seemingly official nod to the console we’ve had from Sony. Could we see an announcement soon, with a release around the original PlayStation’s anniversary (December 3)? We’ll have to wait for more official news, perhaps (hopefully) in the next State of Play.
