Proud dad David Foster shows off toddler son Rennie’s drumming skills

That’s my boy! David Foster shows off toddler son Rennie’s drumming skills and inherits his father and mother Katherine McPhee’s music gene

His father, David Foster, is a 16-time Grammy Award-winning musician, while his mother, Katharine McPhee, is an acclaimed singer-songwriter and actress.

But even with that pedigree, viewers were left amazed when they saw the couple’s two-year-old son, Rennie, show off his drumming skills on Instagram.

Foster, 73, shared the short clip, which showed the toddler keeping track of time while sitting behind his drum kit

‘PROGRESS!!’ he gushed in the caption, before telling his followers that Rennie is only “2 years and 3 months.”

The composer, arranger, producer and music executive has been documenting his son’s progress on the drums since last December.

Drummer Boy: David Foster shared another amazing video of his son Rennie, which he shares with his wife Katharine McPhee, playing the drums

In the clip, Rennie starts off with a cool lick on one of his tom drums, before moving to the snare-and-ride symbol for a throw on each.

At that point, the cute boy shows he can keep a solid beat with the snare, kick, and high-hat combination.

Foster first uploaded a video of Rennie drumming on an electronic percussion device to Instagram on December 23, 2022, with the caption: “Little drummer.”

And he followed that up in January with a video of Rennie playing a real drum kit for the first time, sharing how he had “made progress after 22 months!!”

Three weeks later, Rennie was seen standing upright while focusing on the top hat symbol with an almost disco pattern.

Finding his groove. 23 months,” Foster wrote in the post.

Rennie’s passion for percussion was so great that he even grabbed some chopsticks and started beating away.

Rennie is the only child of Foster, 73, and McPhee, 39, who celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary on June 28.

Foster is also a father to five adult daughters: Sara, 42, Erin, 40, and Jordan, 36, who he shared with second wife Rebecca Dyer.

He also has daughters Allison, 53, and Amy, 49, from previous relationships.
