Property Brothers star Jonathan Scott reveals Cher slid into his DMs during the pandemic… though he insisted it wasn’t romantic

Property Brothers star Jonathan Scott revealed that the iconic Cher once slid into his DMs during the pandemic.

Scott, 45, and his twin brother Drew appeared on Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush’s TODAY hour to promote their new show Backed By the Bros.

Jonathan – who was spotted at the Fashion Trust Awards last week with fiancée Zooey Deschanel – and his brother were in a segment called Hot Seat when they were asked if any celebrities had slid into their DMs.

‘Oh, I have a good one! Cher!’ Jonathan said, surprising both Hoda and Jenna during the segment, with Drew adding, “Yes, she’s a big fan of the show.”

“Yes, it wasn’t in a romantic way, but she had seen one of our shows and she just said she was watching this during the pandemic. And so I immediately thought, “Call everyone I know!” he said.

Drew added, “No, but really she just came to say, ‘Why the hell aren’t the homeowners listening to you?’ And in the DM she said, “That homeowner needs to listen to you more.”

When they asked if he responded, Jonathan said, “Did I respond to Cher? Of course I responded to Cher! I was single at the time, so I was like, ‘Okay, what’s going on,’ no,” he joked.

“No, I responded and I laughed and she was funny,” Drew added about meeting Cher.

The brothers were busy promoting their new show Backed By the Bros, in which they lend their connections and resources to struggling real estate investors.

They showed a clip of the show, with the hosts saying it sounds like there will be quite a bit of drama, which Drew confirmed.

‘Tell me, if you were doing a renovation project and you had us come in and say, ‘We’ll be there to help you, bring contractors and designers and help you and we’ll give you advice, would you turn around and do the opposite? of what we advise?’ Drew asked.

Jonathan added that “a lot of people do that,” and that “you’ve never seen a show like this on HGTV because these people are literally on the brink where they’re going to lose everything.”

He added that one of the couples had “sucked their retirement savings and their five children’s college tuition into the renovation.”

Drew added, “No, but really she just came to say, "Why the hell won't the homeowners listen to you?" And in the DM she said: "That homeowner needs to listen to you more"'

“We come in and try to save them, but some of them still aren’t listening,” Jonathan insisted.

Drew added, “These are their projects and we’re trying to support them, so we’re not coming in and taking the reins. It’s still theirs, we’re just trying to take our resources with us.”

He admitted that sometimes they do, “making different decisions and we’re still trying to get them on track, but at the end of the day they’re not all successful stories.”

The new series debuts June 5 on HGTV.
