She wore a white Oscar G Couture dress with a plunging neckline and a sparkling nude turtleneck bodysuit to a New Year’s Eve party at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida.
But Lara, 41, who is married to Eric Trump, was heavily criticized on Instagram after she posted photos of the dress to her 1.6 million followers.
Now Project Runway star Oscar Lopez, who designed the controversial outfit, claims the backlash stems from jealousy.
He claimed he designed the dress with sensuality and elegance and worked closely with Lara to ensure it conveyed the right message.

Lara’s dress had a long slit, leaving her legs completely visible, and it was dismissed as ‘messy’ and ‘disrespectful’.
“Not stylish at all,” one user wrote on Instagram. While another said: ‘Big fan but Lara is beautiful and intelligent. You don’t have to show your body like that. Please be a little more conservative!’
Another added: ‘I’m a big fan of your work and dedication to this country but I feel like you could get better advice on styling. This is not something a future First Lady should wear.”
A fourth said: ‘No. Remember who you are and dress accordingly. Your image is important, and so is your dignity.”
But designer Lopez stood by the controversial dress, claiming it stayed true to Lara’s confident personality.
“It’s important to recognize that public figures often face differing opinions, especially if your last name is ‘Trump,’ and each individual responds to such situations in their own way,” he said. TMZ.
“In Lara’s case, this doesn’t deter her at all.”
He noted that fashion is a subjective matter and evokes a range of responses.

Lopez said Lara was happy to wear the final look and has no regrets about working with her.
He added that she was aware of the backlash but was not bothered by it because she understands that being in the public eye brings different opinions.

Speaking at the celebration, Donald, 77, announced that Melania could not attend as she was busy caring for her ‘very ill’ mother Amalija Knavs, 78.
He said Amalija was in a hospital in Miami and Melania was by her side, adding that the situation was “difficult” for their family.

During his speech, the 2024 presidential candidate also signaled that he plans to hit the ground running as the Republican Party caucuses and caucuses in Iowa and New Hampshire begin later this month.
‘We’re going to have a great 2024. We are going to make America great again,” he said.
