A player from French football club OGC Nice is threatening to throw himself off the Magnan Bridge ‘after a relationship break-up’, according to reports in France.

Firefighters, police officers and a psychologist sent by the Ligue 1 club are involved in helping the suicidal player, whose identity has yet to be confirmed.

Nice-Matin reported that the young player is suicidal after a fracture.

BFMTV said the footballer was standing on the 100-metre high Magnan viaduct, located on the A8 motorway northwest of the city of Nice.

The player is said to have stopped on the side of the road and is in danger of jumping.
