Pro-Palestinian protesters set up tent encampment outside Los Angeles City Hall

LOS ANGELES — Pro-Palestinian protesters set up an encampment in front of Los Angeles City Hall on Monday evening.

About 50 protesters with 20 tents were seen lined up on the sidewalks outside the building at Main and First streets, KABC-TV reported. Several tents had Palestinian flags and phrases such as “Free Palestine” and “Free Gaza.”

No arrests and no injuries have been reported. Out of an abundance of caution, police have issued a tactical warning throughout the area.

Before the start of the summer holidays last month, more than 3,000 people had been arrested on US campuses, including protesters on the University of California campuses in Los Angeles, San Diego and Irvine.

The last war between Israel and Hamas began when Hamas and other militants stormed into the south Israel on October 7 killing about 1,200 people and taking another 250 hostage. Palestinian militants still hold about 100 prisoners, while Israeli bombing and ground operations in Gaza have killed more than 36,000 Palestinians. This is reported by the Gaza Ministry of Healthin which no distinction is made between combatants and civilians.
