Priyanka Chopra reveals she would give up career for her daughter Malti ‘without question’

Priyanka Chopra has been busy lately promoting her two newest roles: the spy action thriller series Citadel and the romantic comedy-drama film Love Again.

Both of her new projects have only just premiered in the past few weeks, so she had to focus some of her attention on the promotion.

But make no mistake, her priorities have shifted since she finished those roles leading up to the arrival of Malti, her and husband Nick Jonas’ daughter, via surrogate, in January 2022.

“If I was asked to give up my career and just move to another country, I would definitely do it for my daughter,” the 40-year-old actress confessed in a new interview with Femina.

As a first-time mother, Chopra now understands the love between a parent and a child, and as a result sees her career differently as she has a one-year-old waiting for her at home.

‘I want to go back home. On time,” she said in reference to her long hours on set. “I’ll finish my work real quick and then I’ll be home.”

Indian-born Jamshedpur, Bihar (present-day Jharkhand) made it a point to make it clear that despite shifting her top priority to her baby daughter, it doesn’t mean she isn’t still committed to her work.

“That doesn’t mean I don’t like my job,” she said emphatically. “That doesn’t mean I won’t do it with the same enthusiasm I did before.”

She added, “But now I know that life is just as important.”

And the life of the couple’s daughter did not pass without scary drama and exciting days.

Malti was born, with the help of a surrogate in Southern California, 12 weeks premature, and ended up spending her first 100 days on planet Earth in the NICU (newborn intensive care unit).

Once she was on the road to recovery and taken to their home to start their new life together, the couple took to their respective Instagram pages to share about the experience, which they described as a “roller coaster.”

“After over 100 days in the NICU, our little girl is finally home. Each family’s journey is unique and requires a certain level of faith,” they noted.

The proud parents then pointed out that they had come to realize that they were just happy to be able to spend time together as a family.

“While ours were a challenging few months, it becomes abundantly clear in hindsight how precious and perfect each moment is,” they continued.

After thanking all the medical professionals who helped care for Malti Marie during her time in need, they turned to the future.

“Our next chapter starts now, and our baby is a real bada**. Let’s get it MM! Mom and Dad love you,” they gushed.

Chopra made it a point to express her love for her husband and to help her become a mother.

While the pair have made an effort to hide Malti’s face in photos, they’ve been documenting more of her life on social media in recent months for privacy reasons.

In a recent interview with Andy Cohen for Watch what’s happening live, the proud mother described her daughter as the “happiest, most joyous” personality.

“She’s magical, so to speak,” the Quantico alum said. “She’s not jet lagged. She’s always asleep.’

Chopra and Jonas tied the knot in 2018 after beginning their relationship earlier that same year.
