Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas hold hands as they enjoy a low-key pre-Met Gala date

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas enjoyed a low-key date night ahead of attending this year’s Met Gala on Sunday.

The actress, 40, and the musician, 30, held hands as they left New York’s Carlyle Hotel a day before the glittering annual fundraiser, widely regarded as the biggest fashion night of the year.

Priyanka gave her casual look a pop of color by choosing a cobalt blue knit dress with a turquoise pattern on the hem.

The Citadel star paired the garment with a black wool coat, matching knee-high boots and a leather handbag.

The Bollywood icon wore her dark locks scraped back in a high bun, while completing her look with hoop earrings and minimal makeup.

It won’t be long now: Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas enjoyed a quiet date night on Sunday before attending this year’s Met Gala

Nick opted for a casual look in a light brown and chocolate jacket, a hoodie, taupe tailored trousers and fresh white sneakers.

The Met Gala has special relevance to the couple, who first sparked romance rumors when they attended the event together in 2017 after secretly dating for months.

Although they denied claims of a relationship at the time, they went public with their union shortly after the 2018 fundraiser, before getting engaged in July of that year during a romantic holiday to the Greek island of Crete.

The couple got married just a few months later and tied the knot in December 2018 in traditional Hindu and Christian ceremonies at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India.

Priyanka shed light on her romance with Nick last week in a revealing interview with digital magazine Today, revealing he was her mainstay as their daughter Malti, 15 months, spent 110 days in the NICU.

The actress said the Jonas Brothers star gave her strength after their daughter was born prematurely via surrogate in January 2022.

She explained, “I remember he just held me by the shoulders and I said, ‘Just tell me what to do, because I don’t know what to do.’

And he said, “Just get in the car with me.” And we drove to the hospital. She was born and from the moment she took her first breath until now, she has never been without one of us.”

Priyanka opened up about the heartbreaking 110 days little Malti spent in hospital and the day the couple were finally able to bring her home in May 2022.

She said: “I don’t think it was our test. I think it was her test. I realized very, very early on that I didn’t have the luxury of being scared or weak because she was scared and weak.

“And I had to be her strength as her mother. I had to make her feel at every moment that she’s not alone… that we have her.

“(In the NICU) you know your child is alive because you can see his heartbeat (on the monitor). I couldn’t sleep for days, because now she was suddenly home without a monitor.

“I used to put my ear on her chest. I woke up every few minutes to see if she was okay. This went on for weeks.’

Priyanka went into detail about her “generous, gentle and thoughtful” husband, but admitted that she initially didn’t give him a chance due to their 10-year age difference.

She said, “My husband is the kindest, most generous, gentle, considerate man — and also extremely intelligent and patient. He’s my cheerleader.

“He gets really excited about my wins. At the end of the evening he removes my extensions. He fixes my dress when I walk off stage and makes sure it looks good when I’m on the carpet.

“He brings me my coffee first thing in the morning. He’s just so even-tempered, can handle anything thrown at him. And also has the ability to be vulnerable with me… I feel safe with my husband. I wish that for everyone.

“I didn’t give it much of a chance because I was like, ‘He’s 25 years old, he’s a rock star. I want to get married, I want to settle down, I want to have a baby. I was 35 at the time.

“I wanted stability, and I didn’t give Nick enough credit until I went out with him on our first date. We spent the whole evening together and I realized that my husband is like an old soul. He is stability in human form.’

Hosted by Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, the annual ball is the biggest evening in fashion, as well as a fundraising drive to benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City.

This year’s theme is Karl Lagerfeld: A Thing of Beauty, a tribute to the legendary German designer, who passed away in 2019 after leading the French fashion house Chanel since 1983.
