Princess Sofia of Sweden is pregnant! Prince Carl Philip’s wife is expecting the couple’s fourth child, palace announces – and reveals when the baby is due

Princess Sofia of Sweden is pregnant with her fourth child, the Swedish royal family has announced.

Prince Carl Philip’s 39-year-old wife is “doing well” and the baby is due in February 2025, according to a palace statement shared on the royal family’s Instagram account this afternoon.

The couple, who married in 2015, already have three sons: Prince Alexander, seven, Prince Gabriel, five, and two-year-old Prince Julian.

Carl Philip, 45, is the only son and second child of Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. His elder sister Princess Victoria, 47, is the heir to the Swedish throne and is currently fourth in line to the throne.

A statement from the Swedish Royal Family said: ‘Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia are pleased to announce that the Princess is expecting the couple’s fourth child.

‘Princess Sofia is doing well and the birth is expected in February 2025. No changes are expected to Princess Sofia’s official program for the fall.’

The statement was shared alongside a sweet photo of the couple, with Carl Philip smiling at the camera while his wife leaned her head against his face. The backdrop featured a beautiful lake and several mountains.

Last weekend the couple attended the wedding of Princess Märtha Louise of Norway and Shaman Durek Verrett.

Princess Sofia arrived at the lavish event dressed in a flowing, ombre yellow dress, in the arms of her husband, Prince Carl Phillip.

Sofia exuded elegance in the long silk dress with a narrow waist and long sleeves by Swedish fashion designer Lilli Jahilo.

The dress’s bright, warm color and long sleeves were a fitting choice for the cold summer day in the Norwegian town of Geiranger, where temperatures averaged just 14 degrees Celsius.

Sofia was seen toting a fluffy white sweater under her arm during the wedding ceremony, just in case she needed some extra warmth.

She teamed the bright dress with a pair of nude platform pumps by Gianvito Rossi and a pale gold Susan Szatmary Port Doré clutch.

Princess Sofia of Sweden looked stunning in a flowing ombre yellow and white dress as she attended the royal wedding of Princess Märtha Louise and Shaman Durek in Norway on Saturday

From her long, half-up brown locks protruded $24,000 worth of earrings by Copenhagen jeweler Ole Lynggaard.

Sofia added an extra touch of sparkle to her stylish outfit with a €5,700 Bigli Jewels ring on her left middle finger.

This isn’t the first time the Swedish princess has worn the Lilli Jahilo dress. Sofia is no stranger to repeating outfits, having previously worn the ombre outfit in December 2022 for the Nobel Prize Winners’ Dinner at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

Princess Sofia was one of 350 guests at the wedding of Norwegian Princess Märtha Louise, 52, to 49-year-old Durek Verrett, who claims to be a sixth-generation shaman from California.

Märtha Louise and Princess Sofia have been good friends for years thanks to the close relationship between the Swedish and Norwegian royal families.

The newlyweds got married in picturesque Geiranger, one of Norway’s biggest tourist attractions, situated on a fjord with stunning views.

The guests left the wedding tent shortly after 3pm local time and walked along a red carpet to the nearest hotel reception.
