Princess of Wales calls children’s hospices a ‘shining light’ for families during their ‘darkest times’, while Kate pays tribute to ‘life-changing care’

The Princess of Wales praised children’s hospices for their “life-changing care” and said they are a “shining light” for families.

In a message to mark Children’s Hospice Week, Kate thanked staff for being there for people during their “darkest times.”

She also shared that she had seen ‘first hand’ how they ‘allow children to be children’ as she had been a royal patron of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (Each) for over 10 years.

Kate said: ‘With 99,000 critically ill children across the country, children’s hospices work tirelessly to provide life-changing care to families with the goal of making incredibly difficult situations a little easier.

‘As a patron of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices, I’ve had the privilege of seeing for myself the incredible way hospices help families and children to be children.

“During Children’s Hospice Week, all hospices will be doing what they do day in and day out – delivering essential specialist care, and whether that’s by helping to make a day at the beach easier for children to feel the sand between their toes, young involving people in therapeutic music activities, or a fun painting session to create special moments and memories, the teams that support these families regularly go above and beyond to make a difference in their lives, however long or short they may be .

“On behalf of parents and caregivers across the country, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who works in children’s hospices.

“You are a shining light to so many families in their darkest times and your efforts have not gone unnoticed.

Children’s Hospice Week, June 19-25, is organized by Together for Short Lives, the UK charity for seriously ill children and families, and is the only week dedicated to raising funds and awareness for services across the UK. country.
