Princess Mary of Denmark appears emotional as she joins Prince Frederik at wreath-laying memorial service for Danish soldiers on Flag Day in Copenhagen
Princess Mary of Denmark seemed to get emotional as she and Prince Frederik paid tribute to the country’s fallen soldiers at the annual Flag Day event this morning.
The mother of four, 51, was photographed wiping her eyes while at Kastellet military headquarters, where she and her husband took part in the traditional wreath-laying ceremony for Danish soldiers abroad.
In honor of people who are or have been sent on missions by Denmark, the service was also attended by veterans.
The Australian-born princess was dressed in a pink and blue floral skirt with a long-sleeved navy blouse tucked in at the waist.
She paired the elegant ensemble with a wide-brimmed navy blue hat and a striking purple flower.

The royal completed her look with a pair of dainty pear earrings, lots of gold bracelets and cream colored heels. In her hands she carried a pair of grape colored gloves and a matching clutch.
The Crown Prince, 55, dressed in military regalia, sat next to Princess Mary during the ceremonies.
September 5 is an official day in Denmark to pay respect to deployed soldiers and is marked by a number of different events and ceremonies throughout the day.
Last month, Princess Mary returned with her family from her summer vacation and opened a center to help people in mourning in Vejle.
The mother of four wore a gorgeous white midi dress with a subtle black and white pattern as she stepped outside the Danish National Center for Grief.
She opted for natural makeup and swept her long brown hair over her shoulder when she arrived.
It comes after the royal family returned from her family’s summer vacation in Ibiza, where she enjoyed the sun and sea with her husband Crown Prince Frederik.
The Danish National Center for Bereavement offers free counseling to anyone who has lost a parent, sibling, child or spouse, or people who are relatives of people suffering from a serious physical illness. The center also offers a helpline called Griefline.

Princess Mary was seen on the Spanish island of the sun with her husband Prince Frederik in August.
Mary took a refreshing dip in the ocean with Frederik and flaunted her gorgeous figure in a green one-piece swimsuit from Danish brand Copenhagen Cartel.
The 51-year-old wore the same swimsuit on Sydney’s Palm Beach in December 2022.
Mary and Frederik were spotted taking a break from the kids and their luxury yacht when they went to a beach on a dinghy with another couple.
The couple in love looked relaxed as they swam, talked and laughed together in the turquoise water.
Once ashore, Mary donned a bright yellow button-up shirt and khaki shorts, while Frederik wore a blue T-shirt over his board shorts.
The princess shielded herself from the sun with a white Panama hat and Wayfarer-style sunglasses.
Mary didn’t skip accessorizing with gold chains and a $256 Jerome Dreyfuss leather phone case.
