Princess Leonor of Spain, 18, looks stylish in a green blazer on solo engagement with younger sister Princess Sofia

Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia met young people from the Princess of Girona Foundation on Wednesday.

The Spanish royals looked stylish in bright summer colours as they welcomed guests from the Princess of Girona Foundation programmes at the Jardines de Saint Clotilde in Lloret de Mar, Spain.

Princess Leonor, 18, looked stylish in a green jacket layered over a white top. She completed her look with white trousers and beige stilettos.

Meanwhile, Sofia, 17, looked stunning in a blue dress, paired with nude ballerina flats.

Her brunette locks hung loosely in soft curls and her neutral makeup enhanced her youthful complexion.

Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia met young people from the Princess of Girona Foundation on Wednesday in the Saint Clotilde Gardens in Lloret de Mar, Spain.

The sisters spent the day talking to other young people and hearing about the work of the Princess of Girona Foundation.

The foundation, currently chaired by King Felipe on behalf of Princess Leonor, is committed to supporting young people in all areas that are crucial to their future.

The aim is to become a national standard for supporting young people in their professional and personal development.

This came after the sisters celebrated the organisation’s 15th anniversary yesterday at the Melia Lloret de Mar Hotel together with their parents, Queen Letizia and King Felipe.

Letizia looked elegant in a cream sleeveless dress with a daring slit and a statement neckline, teamed with a pair of white heels and a matching handbag.

Her husband looked as refined as the Queen, wearing a cream jacket and blue shirt.

Meanwhile, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia of Spain, who had visited a sculpture studio in Barcelona earlier in the day, appeared perfectly in tune with each other on Tuesday.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia’s teenage daughters, 18 and 17, opted for a summery look during their special visit to the studio of renowned artist Jaume Plensa.

Their impeccable appearance once again confirmed their status as promising heirs to the throne and the future of the crown.

Leonor has stepped up her role since turning 18 in October and it appears the crown is looking to her for a fresh start after years of scandal within the monarchy.

The princesses were impeccably dressed in their summer outfits and even wore matching espadrilles from Spanish brand Macarena Shoes.

Eldest daughter Leonor paired a puff-sleeved blouse with matching jeans and looked radiant with gold hoops and a star-shaped piercing.

Sofia opted for wide-leg trousers and a blouse from Ba&sh, one of her favourite boho-style brands.

The royal visit underlined the couple’s interest in contemporary art and culture. They admired Plensa’s acclaimed works and engaged in conversation with the artist.

The event is part of the Princess of Girona Awards, which are being presented today. Leonor will once again give a speech at a gala in honour of the awards.

“The Princess has a huge task to fulfill. At 18, it is time to speak on behalf of so many people like her who are looking for a place and a voice in society,” the event’s host said, according to Spain’s Hola Magazine.

The family outing came during a turbulent period for the Spanish royal family, which began earlier this year with the publication of a shocking book by veteran Spanish journalist Jaime Penafiel.

Letizia’s former brother-in-law told the author that he met Letizia before 2000 and that their alleged relationship began during a romantic trip to Venice, years before she met King Philip.

Jaime, the son of former politician Jaime Ignacio del Burgo, claims he was planning to propose to Letizia when she announced during a dinner at the Ritz hotel in Madrid in 2002 that she was having an affair with a mysterious “diplomat”.

The author described how “serious and meaningful” their relationship was, making the unlikely claim that Jaime “was wearing an engagement ring in his pocket” that night.

Letizia allegedly told him that she had “met someone who would force her to give up her profession”, from which Jaime concluded that her mysterious partner was Felipe.

After the couple reportedly decided to just be friends, Jaime reportedly advised Letizia: “Don’t publicize the romance, just the wedding.”

After announcing their engagement in 2003, Letizia, who divorced her first husband in 1999, reportedly asked Jaime to be a witness at their wedding.

But Letizia and Felipe showed no sign of unrest as they attended a meeting with winners of previous editions of the Princess of Girona Foundation Awards during the organisation’s 15th anniversary events at the Melia Lloret de Mar Hotel

The Foundation, which is currently chaired by the King on behalf of Princess Leonor, is committed to young people in all areas that are crucial to their future.

In addition, the royal’s former brother-in-law also claimed that he had “negotiated” Letizia’s prenuptial agreement and helped pay for the Queen’s family’s wedding dresses.

He said: ‘When the wedding with Felipe came, as you know, I arranged, among other things, the prenuptial agreement.

‘I also had to pay the costs of Letizia’s family because [former King] Juan Carlos refused to pay or even share half with me. So with the help of my friend Felipe Varela, I dressed her mother, grandmother and her sisters. And with the help of Jaime Jason, her father, grandparents and a cousin.’

Jaime also made the incredible claim that the Queen had asked him to meet her the night before the wedding at the exclusive El Latigazo restaurant in Madrid, where she had asked him to “never leave” her.

He sensationally claimed: ‘When we met, she took my hand and asked me why I had never proposed to her. Of course, I didn’t answer. I encouraged her as best I could. The last thing she said to me before we parted in that restaurant was a request: ‘Never leave me.”

In the book, Del Burgo described Felipe as a “kind-hearted man” and even went on to say that he had a “great friendship” with the royal. He told the author: “I told him my problems and he told [me] are.’

The businessman even claims that Felipe ‘takes advantage of [him] as a good person because he felt unable to calm down [Letizia] ‘sometimes’ down.

After the wedding, Jaime described Letizia as a “fox in a henhouse” because she was “smarter than the rest.”

Jaime – who says the Queen called him her “yogi buddy” – claims he continued to have a romantic relationship with Letizia even after their 2004 wedding. He also claims he kept “photos, videos, mobile phones” and text messages as evidence.

The businessman claimed that there was “always love” in their relationship, as he claimed they traveled to Venice together. The photo, which Jaime shared on Twitter, was taken during one of Letizia’s pregnancies between 2005 and 2007.

In the book, Jaime sensationally claims that Letizia whispered that she loved him as they lay in a hammock by the pool at her home after the birth of Princess Leonor.

Jaime Penafiel further writes that Jaime del Burgo later wrote a play entitled “La Hamaca,” which means “The Hammock” in English, and that he edited it but never distributed it.

After this, Jaime claims, they “took steps toward becoming free,” including seeking legal advice and looking at properties in the US.

A spokesperson for the Spanish royal family previously told FEMAIL: “We have no comment on this.”
