Princess Kate’s uncle Gary Goldsmith slams wild conspiracy theories about the royal’s health after surgery – as he tells the public to ‘give her a bit of space’ and says ‘there’s a reason’ she’s out the limelight

Princess Kate’s uncle Gary Goldsmith has dismissed wild conspiracy theories about his niece’s health as she recovers from abdominal surgery.

Kate Middleton spent almost a fortnight in Marylebone’s The London Clinic after abdominal surgery but was discharged on January 29.

Goldsmith, who entered the Celebrity Big Brother house as a contestant last night, previously described his royal niece as ‘beautiful’ and branded the racism claims against her as ‘bull****’.

Kate will be away from official royal engagements until after Easter following major surgery in January, with Kensington Palace insisting last week that she was still ‘doing well’.

She has not been seen at royal events since she went to church at Sandringham with William and their children George, Charlotte and Louis on Christmas Day – although TMZ yesterday published a photo of her in a car in Windsor with Mrs Middleton.

Goldsmith said on social media that conspiracy theorists should “leave her alone now because there’s a reason they’re not talking about it.” Mirror reported.

He added, “THey, give her some space. I just think it’s fundamentally wrong and if it happened to anyone else they would think to give them some space.

‘But because Kate is Kate, she does such a great job that there is always interest in her.

‘She is the royal number one for a reason and I beg people to give her some space.

Referring to his four marriages, he added: ‘I’m an absolute nightmare to live with, there’s a reason I’ve had four wives’

“I think they change the dynamic and they are family oriented. They have duties and it is a privilege to be able to fulfill the roles they do have, but family comes first.

‘You have to take care of yourself. You put on your own oxygen mask before caring for others.

“Kate, get well soon, love you and we’ll see you again when you’re ready. That’s what we do with everyone, why not them?’

Goldsmith, who made his money through recruitment and was once worth £30million, is said to have been kept at arm’s length by the Middletons in recent years.

This is despite the fact that he attended William and Kate’s wedding in London in 2011 and that of Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton to James Matthews in Berkshire six years later.

Goldsmith regularly speaks out in support of Kate, who calls him ‘Uncle G’, and has previously praised her as ‘the most spectacular person I have ever met’.

But royal experts fear he is the ‘last thing she needs’ on the ITV show – and said the Middleton family will hope he ‘gets the public’s thumbs up quite smartly’.

Tattooed father-of-one Goldsmith rose to prominence in 2009 when he was caught by now-defunct News Of The World newspaper in a drug sting at his Ibiza villa, the Maison de Bang Bang – crude French slang for the ‘House of Sex’.

He was filmed giving hard drugs to an undercover reporter but he denied taking drugs and reporter Mazher Mahmood, known as the ‘Fake Sheikh’, was later jailed for perverting the course of justice.

Prince William and Kate stayed at the property in 2006 and were set to visit again in 2009 until Goldsmith became involved in the sting and was caught bragging about his royal connections.

The house also became infamous for being the scene of Goldsmith’s seedy nights of excess and his boasts about watching pornography while there.

At the time of the sting he is said to have joked that once William and Kate were married he would have access to Buckingham Palace, saying: ‘I have my own rooms, the Goldsmith Wing. I’m going to be the Duke of Slough.’

Gary Goldsmith was arrested in 2017 after allegedly attacking his fourth wife, Julie-Ann, outside their London home. They are pictured together at a film premiere in London in 2013

But although the incident was a major embarrassment to the royal family at the time, Goldsmith later revealed to the Mail on Sunday in 2013 that he received a phone call from Mrs Middleton to apologize for all the trouble they had caused him.

He said: ‘People like to think I’m a black sheep, a bad boy. I’m not real. I’ve had my moments – I’m not completely innocent – but am I not liked by my family?

‘No, that’s just not true. I have a good heart and I care about people. We never fell out.

‘At the time this story broke, Carole was on the phone apologizing on behalf of the family, especially Kate, for suddenly being thrust into the spotlight.’

Goldsmith grew up in a council house in Hounslow, west London, the son of a decorator father and a shop assistant mother.

He started working as an IT operator, but made his money through sports management and recruitment.

When his recruitment company went public in 2005, he became a multi-millionaire with an estimated fortune of £30 million.

It came as it was claimed today that the Ministry of Defense had taken the step of announcing the Princess of Wales’s return to royal duties without consulting Kensington Palace.

The Army’s official website has confirmed that Kate Middleton will carry out her first major assignment since her abdominal surgery during the London parade on June 8.

Tickets are now being sold on the site for the spectacle on the weekend before the main Trooping the Color ceremony, which is normally judged by the monarch.

But while this is Kate’s first official role since undergoing surgery, Kensington Palace has not yet confirmed her presence. MailOnline understands that Palace officials were not consulted about the MoD update.

A royal source added that Prince William or Kate’s presence at events is always announced by the Palace, and not the Ministry of Defence. But it seems the Ministry of Defense is hoping Kate will feel well enough to attend one of the most important ceremonial events in the year of the Armed Forces.

Only the palace can announce Kate’s presence at a royal event – and confirmation is not expected until closer to the time. MailOnline contacted the Ministry of Defense for comment, but questions were directed to the Palace, which also did not issue a statement.

Previously, Goldsmith slammed Prince Harry for throwing the royal family ‘under the bus’, defending Kate against claims she was the ‘royal racist’.

In an interview with The sunGoldsmith said: ‘She is beautiful on the outside but even more beautiful on the inside and is a truly loving mother.

‘That’s why I got so angry with Harry and Meghan, because you don’t put a stick in the spoke and reinvent history.

‘I got quite angry when they attacked my beautiful niece, who couldn’t say anything for herself.’

Goldsmith’s comments come after Kate and King Charles were identified by author Omid Scobie as the ones who allegedly asked Meghan and Harry what color Archie’s skin might be before he was born.

“It’s absolute bull**** and I couldn’t hide my feelings very well when I was given the opportunity to say something,” Goldsmith said. “Kate is 100 percent not racist.”
