Princess Elisabeth stuns in fuchsia as she joins King Philippe and Queen Mathilde for National Day celebrations in Brussels

Princess Elisabeth looked effortlessly elegant as she celebrated Belgium’s national day with King Philippe and Queen Mathilde.

The 22-year-old European royal, who recently completed her studies in History and Politics at Oxford, opted for a bright pink outfit for the annual event.

Every year the country celebrates its national holiday, the day on which Leopold of Saxe-Coburg swore allegiance to the Belgian Constitution and thus became the first king of Belgium.

The future queen, who walked arm in arm with her brother Prince Emmanuel up the steps of Brussels Cathedral, looked suitably elegant in a fuchsia midi dress and matching headband.

The royal family’s form-fitting dress featured a chic cape that covered her shoulders during the religious ceremony this morning.

Elisabeth completed her outfit with a matching bright pink clutch, silver earrings and a pair of nude heels.

Princess Eleonore, 16, looked just as chic as her older sister in a red and white floral silk dress, while their brothers Emmanuel, 18, and Gabriel, 20, dressed smartly for the occasion in morning suits.

Meanwhile, Queen Mathilde, 51, wore a stylish ivory button-down dress with a full skirt and matching hat.

The Queen paired her chic dress with brown suede gloves, which perfectly matched her high heels.

King Philippe, 64, wore his military uniform as he led his family into the cathedral this morning.

Independence Day commemorates the secession of Belgium from the Netherlands in 1831, as well as the formal establishment of the kingdom.

Today there is a varied programme of festivities, from Vossenplein to Warandepark, visiting the different districts of Brussels for the National Day.

Earlier this month, Princess Elizabeth officially retired from the University of Oxford after three “wonderful” years.

The future European queen enrolled at the institution under the name ‘Elisabeth de Saxe-Coburg’ and was a member of Lincoln College.

A spokesperson for the Belgian Royal Palace told about her time there Oxford Post: ‘The Princess loved studying at Oxford and had a wonderful time at Lincoln College.’

In addition to her active membership in her college’s rowing club, Elisabeth wrote about six written papers and a thesis on history or politics in her final year to earn her degree.

Princess Elisabeth’s next destination is the famous Harvard University in Boston, where the princess took entrance exams.

The Brussels Times announces that she will be on the Kennedy School campus.

The palace told the newspaper: “The princess was also selected for an ‘honorary award’ from the Fulbright Program, the US State Department’s international educational exchange program.”

And it seems Princess Elisabeth is already delving into American culture. In March, She hosted by former US President Barack Obama then She joined her father, King Philippe, in Brussels.

At the time, she took a break from her studies to perform a rare royal duty in her home country.

Elisabeth is next in line to the Belgian throne, as she is the eldest child of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde.
