Prince William ‘happy’ Princess of Wales is in the spotlight, but there’s ‘one thing that’s bothering him’ says royal expert

Prince William is ‘delighted’ that the Princess of Wales will be allowed to take the spotlight at royal engagements, according to an expert.

But Roya Nikkhah claimed that there is one thing that bothers the future king – when he is cropped from photos to make his wife look heavier.

It’s no secret that during their short-lived marriage, King Charles often worried about the popularity of his first wife, Princess Diana.

Charles was reportedly ‘frustrated’ with Diana taking center stage – but Ms Nikkhah has claimed there is a ‘striking difference’ when it comes to his son’s attitude.

She told True Royalty TV’s The Royal Beat: “Charles was always very upset when Diana overshadowed him, which was all the time. William is delighted that people are warm to Catherine.

“William feels comfortable with that. I’ve heard him talk about Catherine’s work and how excited he is about it, and he’s thrilled that she’s getting traction.”

Mrs Nikkhah, editor of the Sunday Times, added: ‘Tthe only thing i know of it bothering it a bit is when cropped out of photos.

“Very often you’ll find them doing a joint engagement and being on the front page of the news the next day, it’s like William was never there!”

Kate, 41, is very active in royal life – both with her husband and alone.

She recently met dozens of schoolchildren at the Chelsea Flower Show.

It comes after it was claimed The Princess of Wales’s popularity is “disturbing” to King Charles and Queen Camilla, but the palace sees Kate as a “great model for the monarchy.”

Kate Mansey, assistant editor of The Mail on Sunday, and Richard Eden, editor of Daily Mail’s Diary, previously discussed the Princess of Wales’s surprise appearance at the Chelsea Flower Show.

The royal mother-of-three made her first appearance at the annual event since 2019, arriving hours before King Charles and Queen Camilla were due to appear.

It comes after the Princess of Wales’s popularity was claimed to be ‘disturbing’ for King Charles and Queen Camilla – but the palace sees Kate as a ‘great model for the monarchy’

Discussing the spate of royal activity at the event, Kate insisted the Princess of Wales was “not competing” with her in-laws with her top-secret engagement.

The expert said: ‘I think she is a great model for the monarchy [and] for the royal family and they appreciate that.

“They wouldn’t have had her there if they didn’t think it would be brilliant, so I think there’s a way they could all exist.”

In addition, the royal expert noted that the king and queen are currently in Northern Ireland, engaging in “high-level diplomacy.”

That said, Richard Eden noted that the popularity of the Princess of Wales is “troubling” for Charles and Camilla.

Before the Queen died, the royal expert highlighted how there were royal aides who wanted Charles and Camilla to complete as many assignments as possible with William and Kate.

Using the example of the 2021 James Bond premiere, Richard said they were seen as the ‘new Fab Four’ – following the departure of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from the royal family.

He explained, “I think that was an opportunity to show that this was the future of the monarchy and it’s in safe hands, that sort of thing.”
