Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake finally gets its release date

Ubisoft’s remake for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has emerged from the shadows again. After several delays and the change of development studio from Ubisoft Prune to Ubisoft Montreal, fans finally got a release date for the remake on Monday at Ubisoft Forward. According to the display case Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is scheduled for release in 2026.

The developers shared a short visual teaser of the game, showing a candle being relit after time is rewound. Apart from that and the year of release, the developers have not shared any new details.

Ubisoft originally planned to release Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake in 2021. In the spring of 2023, a Q&A and FAQ from developers shared that the game was in the “conception phase.” However, the developers assured players that the game was “alive” but was only in “early stages of development.”

Ubisoft released the original Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time in 2003 on Game Boy Advance, GameCube, PlayStation 2, Windows PC and Xbox. It is developed by Ubisoft Montreal. Ubisoft released an original game in the series, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crownin January 2024.
