- Kensington Palace has released a beaming photo of Louis on his sixth birthday
Prince Louis beams from ear to ear in a cheeky photo released to mark his sixth birthday.
The youngest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales celebrates his sixth birthday today after returning to school after the Easter holidays.
Kensington Palace would normally release portraits of the Welsh children early in the morning to celebrate their birthdays, but fans were left disappointed this morning when Kate and William’s social media accounts showed no pictures of the cheeky six-year-old.
However, the photo of the beaming young prince has now been released, with the report wishing him a very happy birthday.
The photo was taken by his mother, the Princess of Wales, who often photographs her children’s birthday portraits.
The Princess of Wales took Prince Louis’ birthday photo in honor of her youngest child who turns six today
The photo was posted to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ social media accounts, thanking royal fans for all the kind wishes they had sent to the young prince.
The caption reads: ‘Happy 6th birthday, Prince Louis! Thank you for all the kind wishes today.”
Prince Louis was born in the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital on April 23, 2018, as were his older brothers Charlotte and George.
A statement from Kensington Palace at the time read: ‘Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge safely gave birth to a son at 11.01am.
‘The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present at the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are doing well.’
Louis’ sixth birthday comes as the Wales family takes a break from the spotlight as the princess, 42, recovers from abdominal surgery and subsequent cancer treatment.
Mother-of-three Kate revealed in March that she was undergoing a preventive course of chemotherapy for an as-yet-undisclosed form of cancer.
In a heartbreaking video, the Princess of Wales explained how the cancer cells were discovered while she was undergoing surgery for another condition in January.
She explained that she hadn’t talked about it before because she wanted time to “explain everything” to George, Charlotte and Louis and assure them, “I’ll be fine.”
This was also the reason that William was forced to withdraw from a memorial service for his late godfather, King Constantine of Greece, as it is understood that this was when the family first learned of Kate’s condition.
In her emotional statement, Kate said: ‘The operation was successful but tests after the operation revealed cancer was present.
‘You can imagine that this took time. It took me time to recover from major surgery before I could start my treatment.”
Prince Louis is known for his flair in front of the camera and has previously delighted royal fans with his expressive appearances at royal events.
During Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the young royal, then four years old, took center stage as the royal family appeared on the balcony.
Captivated by the Red Arrows circling above him, his impression of what appeared to be a pilot saw young Louis show his expressive side.
