- His brother Harry and his wife Cressida Bonas have named their son after him.
- Friends say they have named the boy Wilbur James as a ‘dedication’ to him
Actress Cressida Bonas touchingly named her son after her husband’s late brother, who died at the age of 21.
The 33-year-old welcomed her first child with husband Harry Wentworth-Stanley last year, after the couple tied the knot in 2020.
It has now been revealed that the couple chose to name it after Harry’s brother, James, who took his own life in 2006.
Sources have told Richard Eden of the Daily Mail that the name Wilbur James Wentworth-Stanley is a ‘dedication’ to the 21-year-old.
Cressida Bonas, pictured here with her husband Harry Wentworth-Stanley, welcomed their first child with him in November of last year.
Friends of the couple say they named their son, pictured here with Mrs Bonas, after her husband’s late brother, James.
Ms Bonas, who dated Prince Harry for a while and was a guest at his wedding to Meghan Markle, has previously written movingly about the shock of James’ passing.
Last year she wrote in the Daily Mail that his death had turned the lives of her future in-laws ‘upside down’.
“He was a student at Newcastle University and had never shown overt signs of depression or mental illness growing up,” she wrote.
He was funny, sporty, friendly and popular. Many have said that he was a golden boy.
After a minor operation, he sought help for anxiety and suicidal thoughts. Later that week, while back in Newcastle, James went to an NHS walk-in center and was later referred to A&E as a low priority.
‘James left A&E unseen. He sent a letter from the NHS to his family’s GP by second-class mail to the wrong postcode. When he arrived, James had already taken his own life, ten days after the operation.
His family vowed to do something to help others avoid similar tragedies and formed a charity, James’ Place, which supports, advises and assists men in suicidal crises with individual therapy.
The first center was opened by Prince William in Liverpool in 2018.
Ms Bonas, who dated the King’s second child for two years until 2014, gave birth last November.
He married Wentworth-Stanley, 33, a partner in a real estate investment firm, in 2020. He is the son of the Marchioness of Milford Haven.
