Prince Harry wrote his upcoming memoir ‘for himself’, a source claims.
Spare, the Duke of Sussex’s autobiography, expected to be published on January 10, is expected to be a ‘nuclear’ reading, highly critical of the royal family.
But talk to The TelegraphA source has claimed that the Duke chose his “own happiness” by writing the book because he “couldn’t keep trying to make his family happy.”
It comes as royal pundits have claimed Harry could travel to the UK to promote the autobiography, which could see retribution from the palace, including robbing him and his wife Meghan of their Sussex titles.
The source said anonymously: ‘You can’t always live your life to make your family or your siblings happy. You have to choose your own happiness.’

Speaking to The Telegraph, a source claimed the Duke chose his ‘own happiness’ by writing the book (pictured with the Prince of Wales, King Charles and the Princess Royal at the Queen’s funeral in September)
Sources close to the case have also claimed that Spare will not be a “removal from his family” but instead a “wonderful read.”
This comes as reports from last night claimed Harry could fly to Britain in the New Year to explain his ‘intention’ in writing the book – which will cast a shadow over the Royal Family’s Christmas – the first since the queen’s death.
Senior royals would brace for the 416-page title to be published on January 10. Biographer Tom Bower has warned that the memoir’s reception will be a make-or-break moment for the Sussexes.
“It’s not going to be a relaxed family Christmas party, so to speak,” a source told the Mail on Sunday.
It is now claimed that Prince Harry had to turn in his book more than once before it was accepted by publishers, raising fears that it had been ‘bumped up’ with revelations about the royal family.
Royal commentators said the release of Prince Harry’s book would be ‘not helpful’ for King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla
A source told The sun: ‘The book has gone back and forth between Harry and [ghost writer] JR Moehringer and the publishers several times. They wanted more than was in the first draft, and then Harry wanted to fine-tune things after the Queen passed away.
‘But there is extra tossing and turning that people don’t know about. This is because the publishers wanted to cover more areas and have more details about some of the stuff that was already included.
“There’s a real concern that it has forced Harry to devour the book and absorb revelations that even he might not be comfortable with.”
It is now reportedly feared that Harry will expand on a claim to Oprah Winfrey that a relative wondered about the skin color of his and Meghan’s son Archie.
Publishers Penguin Random House say the book is written with “fearless honesty” and is expected to feature explosive new material about Harry’s childhood and his split from “The Firm” after meeting Meghan.
A source added: “The book is much worse than people think.”
Bower told The Sun, “This book is really make or break. I imagine King Charles has been warned that any retaliation will not be pretty.
“All King Charles can really do is withhold the titles from his grandchildren Archie and Lilibet. Ultimately, I think, he could also take the titles from Harry and Meghan, but that’s pretty drastic.
‘I don’t know what else he can do. If it’s as bad as I think it is, Harry and Meghan have gone wild.”
He added that the best thing the royal family could do in this scenario would be to cut ties with the couple.
The title is believed to refer to Harry as the ‘reserve’ of Prince William’s ‘heir’, but has been translated to sound more ominous in other languages.
In Spain it is called In The Shadow, in Sweden The Other and in Denmark The Reservist.
Harry will be recording the audio version himself, but voice actor Emily Woo Zeller warned: “Getting words off a page and making them sound like dialogue is a skill. I don’t know if Harry has that skill.’
Another source close to Prince Harry told the Telegraph last night that the Duke of Sussex wrote his controversial memoir for himself, rather than being a ‘draw from his family’.
It was described by those familiar with the manuscript as a “wonderful read” that readers from all walks of life will identify with.
The experience of tackling his past struggles would have been cathartic for Prince Harry.
The source said: ‘You can’t always live your life to make your family or your siblings happy.
“You have to choose your own happiness.”
It comes after it was reported Friday night that Prince Harry will not return to the UK to spend the first Christmas with his family since Queen Elizabeth II’s death amid controversy.
Sources close to the couple told The Mirror that the relationship between Harry and his wife Meghan and the rest of the royal family is “near rock bottom” and that they could decline an invitation to spend the holiday season with Harry’s family.
It was hoped relations would thaw somewhat after the Queen’s death, but sources told The Mirror the couple have “no plans” to travel to the UK over Christmas.
The rest of the royal family was reportedly surprised by the title of the memoir.
Another source told The Mirror that the book could spell ‘the end’ for any reconciliation attempts between the Sussexes and the royals: ‘This book could spell the end of any relationship Harry wants to have with his family, it’s desperately sad.’
An initial release date was slated for “late 2022” to take advantage of the lucrative Christmas market, but the book won’t hit shelves until January 10 — reportedly as a mark of respect after the Queen’s death, and so it goes. rumored, due to last minute changes requested by the Duke.
A spokesman for the king declined to comment on the book. But it’s clear the Royal House has already been warned that the £28 416 page book is ‘critical of everything and everyone’ and they ‘fear’ it.
The memoir has already topped the Amazon charts in the UK and US, and also reached number two in Canada, despite being published several months later.
