Sunrise has garnered mixed feedback from viewers after airing a ‘childish’ parody of Prince Harry’s best-selling memoir Spare on Wednesday.

During the ‘story time’ themed segment, replacement host Matt Doran read an excerpt from Spare aloud while his co-stars pretended to listen intently.

Co-host Monique Wright lay on the sofa with her head in newscaster Mylee Hogan’s lap, while sportscaster Mark Beretta rested on her elbow.

“Shortly after our return to Britain, the Palace announced that Willy [Prince William] was getting married,’ Doran read, as jazz music played in the background.

‘Then what?’ Wright asked with mock excitement.

‘He calls him Willy, interesting!’ Doran commented, while Beretta agreed: ‘Yeah, that’s new!’

Concluding the show, Wright quipped, ‘See you tomorrow, everyone. We will still be here!

Some viewers were unimpressed by the light-hearted segment, calling it “childish” and requesting that they remove any discussion of Harry in the future.

‘I hate this show. So silly and childish,’ wrote one, while another added: ‘How childish are you, find a life.’ Give Harry a break for God’s sake, sick of hearing all the beating from him.

Bidding farewell to viewers, Monique joked: 'See you all tomorrow, we'll still be here!'
