Prince Harry has reportedly revealed that he killed 25 Taliban fighters during his second tour of duty in Afghanistan.
The Duke of Sussex, known as ‘Captain Wales’ in the army, wrote that he did not think of the murdered ‘as people’ but as ‘chess pieces’ that he had removed from the board.
He said that “it’s not a number that fills me with satisfaction, but it’s not an embarrassing number either,” according to the Telegraph.
This is the first time Harry, 38, has spoken about the number of Taliban fighters he personally killed during his time in Afghanistan, where he was in both 2007-8 and 2012.

The prince was first posted to Helmand province as a forward air controller in 2007, but his first tour of duty was cut short after foreign news organizations violated an agreed news blackout.
After learning to fly Apache helicopters, Harry was posted to Camp Bastion in southern Afghanistan in 2012, where he stayed for 20 weeks.
During his 2012 tour, Harry helped provide helicopter support to the International Security Assistance Force and Afghan forces operating throughout Helmand province.
Based at Camp Bastion, the 662 Squadron Army Air Corps, to which he belonged, flew over a hundred deliberate missions during 2,500 flight hours, providing surveillance, deterrence and, when required, close combat capabilities, as well as security tasks. escort for other aircraft. .
Harry reportedly detailed the startling revelation in his memoir, Spare, which leaked days before it was published.
Captain Wales qualified as a co-pilot gunner in February 2012.
He was posted to the 3rd Army Air Corps Regiment, part of the 16th Air Assault Brigade, to gain more flying experience and operate the Apache in a series of exercises before deploying to Afghanistan in September 2012.
He trained to fly in the front seat as a mission or aircraft commander, but most of the time he operated the Apache’s sights, sensors, and weapon systems.
The disclosure could raise fears for his personal safety, as Prince Harry has long been considered a terror target due to his royal status and military ties.
It comes amid an ongoing legal battle with the Home Office over not giving Harry and his family full police protection when they visit the UK.
The duke’s lawyer said he “doesn’t feel safe” when in the UK, having lost his taxpayer-funded security when he and his wife stepped down from royal duties.
He has previously been considered a target for terrorists due to his two deployments to Afghanistan, as well as being a member of the royal family.
Harry’s revealing autobiography, Spare, was due to be published on January 10, but has already gone on sale in Spain.
The book leak also reveals:
Prince Harry walked the black Labrador Pula of the Sussexes in the pouring rain in California yesterday.
A somber Prince Harry was photographed walking one of the dogs whose food bowl may have broken when Prince William allegedly dumped his younger brother to the ground in a row over Meghan.
The Duke of Sussex took Pula for a workout in California just hours before excerpts from his new book Spare were leaked to The Guardian newspaper.
Harry was bundled up in a hat, raincoat and wellington boots as he walked alone in the black Labrador in pouring rain on a quiet public beach yesterday midday.
Within hours of her walk, a leaked copy of her memoir revealed that she went nuclear with her brother, with claims that William assaulted him in his London kitchen after calling Meghan “difficult”, “rude” and ” aggressive”.
Harry lifted Pula, a black Labrador retriever, adopted by the Sussexes in 2018, from the trunk of his luxury 4×4 before walking down a coastal path towards the beach.
The royal looked serious and gloomy in the parking lot, shortly before the accusations that could end his relationship with his older brother appeared in the press. Harry, however, still insists that he “would like my brother back” despite the memories of him and the TV attacks.
The Duke of Sussex has denied violating his brother’s privacy when he described a stand-up fight that ended with the Prince of Wales grabbing him by the neck and throwing him to the ground, breaking a dog bowl with his back. William then allegedly stated, “I didn’t attack you, Harold.”
In an extraordinary excerpt from his forthcoming book, Harry recalls a “physical attack” that reportedly left him with visible injuries, including “scratches and bruises.”
He claimed the fight broke out in the kitchen of his London home, Nottingham Cottage, on the grounds of Kensington Palace in 2019.
William is said to have called Meghan “difficult”, “rude” and “aggressive” and insisted she was trying to “help” her younger brother.
Harry accused his brother of “repeating the press narrative” about his American wife before a shouting match ensued, the book claims.
Harry claims that he gave the Prince of Wales a glass of water and said, “Willy, I can’t talk to you when you’re like this.”
Describing what happened next, Harry states, “He left the water, called me by another name, and then came over to me.” It all happened so fast. Very fast. He grabbed me by the neck, ripped my collar and threw me to the ground. I landed in the dog bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting me. I stood there for a moment, stunned, then stood up and told him to come out.’
Prince Harry looked serious as he walked his dog alone in the pouring rain on a quiet California beach.
The trunk of his car was protected from bad weather. Then the prince grabbed a ball to throw to his pet in the arena.
Harry claims that William urged him to fight back, saying that’s what would happen when they fought as kids.
But the Duke of Sussex claims he refused, claiming William left and then returned “looking remorseful and apologetic”.
William then “turned around and called her back: ‘You don’t need to tell Meg about this.'”
Harry claims he said, “You mean you attacked me?”, to which William replied, “I didn’t attack you, Harold.”
The Duke of Sussex says the first person he spoke to about it was his therapist, over the phone.
But he claims that Meghan would see the “scratches and bruises” on his back from the dog bowl.
He claims that his wife “wasn’t that surprised and she wasn’t that angry.” She was terribly sad.’
The excerpt has been published by the Guardian. It is not known how the newspaper obtained an early copy of the book, as publisher Penguin Random House has done everything possible to prevent leaks.
