Prince Harry, Kate and Prince William may have been considered a fabulous trio by members of the public.
However, in his memoir, Spare, the royal father of two has now laid bare the reality of their relationship in excruciating detail.
In the early years of his brother’s relationship with Kate, he refers to his fear that she would ‘take Willy away’. He also reveals that he had no idea that his brother was engaged until he publicly announced himself.
Meanwhile, he shares his sadness at not having been invited to dine with the Cambridges while living across the street from them at Kensington Palace.
Prince Harry, Kate and Prince William (pictured in 2019) were once considered a fantastic trio, but the duke has now revealed explosive new details about their relationship.
Kate began dating William in 2003, after meeting him at the University of St Andrews. Soon after, she met Harry.
Harry has now revealed how worried he was that the princess would take his brother from him.
He detailed how he “consoled” himself by thinking of the fun they would all have together in the future.
However, he says he was stunned when he learned in November 2010 that his brother had proposed to Kate.
In the early years of his brother’s relationship with Kate, he refers to his fear that she would “take Willy away”.
Meanwhile, he claimed he was “never” invited to dinner while living across the street from them at Kensington Palace.
He said he only found out about the engagement when it was announced to the public.
Meanwhile, she added that she never gave William her mother’s engagement ring to give to Kate, and had been keeping it since her death.
After her engagement, she said, she was left thinking about her own singleness, and her desire to settle down only grew stronger.
He confessed that he had always felt that he would be the first to marry.
He claimed that William broke the tradition of spending the night together before the wedding.
After the wedding in 2011, Harry says, William and Kate were given more staff, more cars, a bigger residence and a more imposing office.
While he says he “didn’t mind” the perks, he said “respect” mattered to him.
He claimed that he felt like an outsider and a ‘non-person’ because he was single.
His move to Nottingham Cottage came in 2013 and he said he was delighted to be living together with William and Kate.
However, he claimed that despite being “half a football pitch away”, he was never invited to the Cambridge home at Kensington Palace.
Despite ‘assuming’ he would receive an invite, he said he was left disappointed and believed they felt ‘three’s a crowd’.
Elsewhere, Harry detailed that he told Kate and William about his excitement for Meghan and that it had been his “long dream” to become “a foursome.”
However, he claims that William told him that “it may not happen” and that he “would have to settle”.
When the two decided to get married, Harry claims that William told him on the eve of their wedding in 2018 that he would spend the night with Kate and their children.
The duke writes that it was a delicate moment, because it had been his ‘tradition’ and that William ‘canceled at the last minute’.
Earlier today, ‘Human Hand Grenade’ Prince Harry was accused of trying to blow up his father’s reign with his book while escalating his verbal attacks on his brother.
The Duke of Sussex described William’s ‘red fog’ in a fight over Meghan before admitting to taking cannabis, magic mushrooms and cocaine in another clip from his ITV interview, which aired on Sunday.
Harry also insisted to presenter Tom Bradby that he wants reconciliation with his family, even though his memories hurt the King and plunged the royal family into its worst crisis since his mother’s death in 1997.
Despite the trio appearing close on a personal level, Prince Harry has now detailed how he felt William considered ‘three’s a crowd’ (pictured 2012)
Despite appearing to have a close bond in public, Prince Harry has confessed that he was worried that Kate would take William away from him.
And in a separate sneak peek posted by Good Morning America last night, she admitted that breaking up with William would make her late mother “sad.”
Former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown, Princess Diana’s biographer, said today: “Harry has been turned into a human hand grenade. It’s raining on the House of Windsor just at the beginning of his father’s reign.”
Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace have refused to comment on anything Harry has said on television or in his book. But a source told The Times: ‘It’s exhausting, it’s infuriating, but it’s not distracting. It will burn itself.
Prince William, Kate and Prince Harry arrive for the world premiere of the new James Bond film ‘Spectre’ at the Royal Albert Hall in London on October 26, 2015.
The trio took part in a relay race, during a training event to promote the Heads Together charity, at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London on February 5, 2017.
