Body language expert claims Prince Harry is still ‘vulnerable’ after Princess Diana’s death and there are key signs when he is triggered

Prince Harry showed signs of ‘sadness’ and ‘vulnerability’ during his recent interview about grief, a body language expert has claimed.

The 39-year-old Duke of Sussex, speaking in his role as global ambassador for Scotty’s Little Soldiers, an organization that supports young people who have lost their parents in the military, shared his own insights after meeting his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, lost at the age of 12.

Speaking to FEMAIL, British communications expert Judi James explained that the interview “aroused” Harry’s “emotions of historical grief” as he listened “to the story of a parent’s death.”

The royal family overheard Nikki Scott, the founder of Scotty’s Little Soldiers, telling her son, Kai, five, that his father, Cpl Lee Scott, who served with the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment, was in Afghanistan perished. 2009.

“We can see five signs of Harry’s emotions of historical grief being activated when he listens to the story of a parent’s death,” Judi said.

“He begins by assuming a professional posture that conveys power and authority, which may be a gesture of self-protection, as if adopting the posture of a counselor might protect him emotionally.

‘He sits back in the chair with his arms and legs spread instead of leaning forward to ‘get in touch’ with the grief.

However, Judi noticed signs that Harry was becoming ‘triggered’ by the emotionally charged interview.

She said: ‘We can see signs of triggering quite quickly as his left hand performs a self-comfortable fidgeting ritual before clenching into a fist.

‘Rubbing his legs is an auto-contact gesture that seems aimed at self-soothing. He starts chewing on his lower lip to suggest the possibility of tears, and at one point he raises his eyebrows as he closes his eyes for a moment to hide his feelings.

‘Harry finally tries to revive his sense of more professional authority through a pointed finger gesture.

‘However, this is performed right in front of his mouth, like a shield, and even that turns into. ‘pray’ hand gesture hinting at his vulnerability here.

In recent years, Harry has shamed his family, claiming there was a lack of support following the tragic death of his mother in 1997, which he says caused him to bottle up his emotions and eventually seek therapy.

‘As a child it’s so easy to think or convince yourself… you convince yourself that the person you’ve lost wants you, or you have to be sad for as long as possible to prove to them that he or she is missed . But then there’s the realization: no, they have to want me to be happy,” Harry said.

He added, “That’s the hardest thing, especially for kids, I think, is, ‘I don’t want to talk about it because it will make me sad, but once I realize that if I talk about it, I’m celebrating their lives, then things actually become easier”

“As opposed to this ‘I’m just not going to talk about it, and that’s the best way to deal with it,’ when in fact it isn’t. It could be for a certain period of time. You can’t suppress it forever. It is not sustainable. And will eat away at you from the inside.’

“Nobody wants to be in the position where they’re forced to talk about the very thing they don’t want to talk about, especially when every defense mechanism in your mind, nervous system and everything else says, ‘Don’t go there.’

The emotionally charged video was taken in May, when he was last in the UK, and shows the prince in conversation with Nikki Scott, the founder of Scotty’s Little Soldiers.

Nicky talked about the poignant moment she had to tell her five-year-old son Kai that his father had been killed in Afghanistan in 2009. She also had a seven-month-old daughter, Brooke, at the time.

It has been released by the charity in the run-up to Armed Forces Day on Saturday to highlight the ongoing needs of bereaved military children in Britain.

Mrs. Scott’s personal tragedy inspired her to start Scotty’s Little Soldiers after seeing the positive impact a family vacation had on her son.

Prince Harry expressed his admiration for her work, commenting: “What you have done is incredible.

‘It’s really inspiring. I’m truly honored and privileged to now be part of Scotty’s and I’m really looking forward to us doing everything we can to raise more people, more interest, more funds and get the message out to help more children the opportunity to give them the support they so desperately need.’

Scotty’s Little Soldiers currently supports more than 680 members and estimates that every year 2,100 children lose new family members who have served in the British Armed Forces.
