Prince Harry confirmed that he and Meghan announced the Duchess’s first pregnancy at Princess Eugenie’s wedding, before describing how he helped deliver their daughter Lilibet.
In his explosive new biography, Spare, Prince Harry revealed that he and his wife broke the happy news to the Prince and Princess of Wales during a cocktail party after the reception in October 2018.
It’s just one of many glimpses into the lives of Meghan and Harry, as well as Archie and Lilibet’s early days, detailed in their memoir bomb Spare, which was mistakenly published in Spain yesterday.
Detailing Meghan’s pregnancy with their first son, Archie, now three, Harry said they felt compelled to tell his family the news in person before they left for their tour of Australia at the end of 2018.

They chose the wedding of their cousin Eugenie in Windsor to make the announcement, as the wider members of the royal family would be in attendance.
Before the drinks reception, the couple intercepted Charles at his Windsor office and Harry said he was delighted to see his father’s ‘big smile’ after finding out he was going to be a grandfather for the fourth time.
Following this, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex headed to St George’s Hall, where the drinks reception was taking place, to tell Prince William.
He echoed his father’s sentiment and urged them to tell Kate immediately. The Princess of Wales was across the room talking to her sister Pippa Middleton, who was expecting her son Arthur at the time.

Describing Kate’s reaction, Harry wrote: “She too flashed a big smile and a heartfelt congratulations.” They both reacted exactly as she expected, as she wished.
Although the couple did not make the news public until days later, Princess Eugenie’s mother, Sarah Ferguson, was said to have been “furious” that the couple “upstaged” the bride.
In their book Royals At War, investigative journalists Dylan Howard and Andy Tillet wrote: “This was a huge social mistake, even if you weren’t a royal: stealing the spotlight from Eugenie, who was furious, just like her mother , Sarah.”
Later in the book, Prince Harry talks about the birth of his one-year-old daughter, Lilibet Diana, and how it compares to Archie’s delivery in 2019.
During the Duchess’s first labor, Prince Harry describes how the couple’s bodyguards bought a Nando’s to take to the hospital. He also remembers using laughing gas to calm his nerves.

On the contrary, he says the couple felt “safer and calmer” attending Lilibet’s delivery two years later.
He wrote: ‘When the doctor said it was a matter of minutes, I told Meg that the first thing I wanted was for the little baby to see my face. We knew she would be a girl. She agreed and squeezed my hand.
With the doctor supervising everything, Harry explained how he helped bring his daughter into the world.
He then handed it over to Meghan, who later told him that she had “never been so in love with him as I was at that moment”, so that she could be skin-to-skin with her daughter.
The couple announced the birth of their daughter in June 2016, naming her Lilibet Diana after Harry’s late mother and grandmother.
Additionally, Prince Harry writes in extraordinary detail about how Meghan and the Princess of Wales were left in tears during the infamous bridesmaid dress row, while detailing a disagreement over a shared lip gloss, and how Kate was left hurt by Meghan’s comments about her ‘baby brain’ while she was pregnant.
The duke also describes how his first home with Meghan, Nottingham Cottage, was worlds away from the grandeur of William and Kate’s Kensington Palace apartment.
In June 2018, Prince Harry claims he visited his brother and sister’s London home with Meghan Markle to clear the air after a series of disagreements.
During the frigid meeting, where Prince William accused Meghan of being “rude”, Harry says the Prince and Princess of Wales’s luxurious apartment left him and his wife feeling “embarrassed” by their “cosy” living quarters.
