Prince Harry was accused of hypocrisy last night after using a world exclusive interview promoting his memoir to suggest that any reconciliation with his family would be private.
The Duke of Sussex asked for privacy despite launching a media blitz on both sides of the Atlantic to promote ‘Spare’ and recently appearing in a Netflix documentary series with his wife, Meghan Markle.
In a series of twisting-the-knife bombshells on his closest relatives, Harry also claimed the royals had tried to protect their own reputations “to the detriment” of him and Meghan and were “complicit” in their “pain and suffering”.
He described a troubled relationship between his wife and Kate Middleton, while also addressing his breakup with his brother and his sensational accusation of Camilla of conspiring to marry Charles.
Hundreds of royal fans took to social media to criticize the duke’s bewildering plea for privacy after publicly airing several deeply personal rifts within his family.
Former BBC broadcaster Jon Sopel tweeted: “Please tell me I misheard this: ‘I hope what I say to my father and brother stays private’.”
Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent Katie Nicholl shared her thoughts in just two words in her own tweet: “The irony!”
Another person joked online: ‘Private? Not a word in Harry’s vocabulary.
One user tweeted: ‘Harry literally turning the British Monarchy into an episode of The Kardashian’s. This is shameful.
Another said: ‘If you want communication with your family to be private, why are you doing this interview? so contradictory
A third added: “He wants any future conversations to be kept private, but he’s sitting here telling us what other ‘private’ conversations they’ve had.”
Former BBC broadcaster Jon Sopel and Vanity Fair royal correspondent Katie Nicholl tweeted their disbelief at Harry’s pleas for privacy.
Others pointed out the apparent hypocrisy of Harry’s privacy request after years of public attacks on his relatives.
One person wrote on Twitter: “What I have to say about them will be in private, in addition to the now multiple prime time interviews, Netflix show and book.” Other than that yes, completely private’.
Another tweeted: ‘I have never heard such hypocritical, delusional, selfish and narcissistic ramblings in my life!
In fact, he said he ‘hopes’ his family can respect THEIR privacy while incessantly talking about THEM to the world press! KNOWING that they cannot answer!
It comes as Harry dropped new ‘truth bombs’ at the Royal Family during his latest media blitz for his memoir.
Bradby was visibly stunned, as were millions of viewers, by his grating reversal of earlier incendiary claims that an anonymous royal had raised concerns about his son Archie’s skin color.
Harry told Mr Bradby: “You talk to every other mixed-race couple in the world, and you’ll probably find that the white side of the family has either openly discussed it or secretly discussed ‘What will the kids look like?’
‘And that’s part of a bigger conversation that needs to be had.
He added: ‘The difference between racism and unconscious bias, the two things are different.
“But once it’s recognized or pointed out to you as an individual or as an institution that you have unconscious bias, you have an opportunity to learn and grow from that to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem.
The host brought up Oprah’s 2021 interview with Meghan, saying, “You accused members of your family of racism.” But Harry snapped back, ‘No, I didn’t. The British press said that.’
Looking puzzled, Bradby asked, “You wouldn’t describe that as essentially racist?” Harry replied, ‘I wouldn’t, not having lived within that family.’
While trying to broach the issue of the fallout between William and Harry, Bradby told her that his brother might have viewed the breakup of their relationship differently.

He said, ‘I think I’d say he found you emotional, defensive, unable to communicate with you,’ Harry replied, ‘It’s quite a list of assumptions you’re making.’
In a particularly awkward exchange, Bradby attempted to ask Harry about the part of his memories where details losing her virginity to an ‘older woman’ in a field behind a pub at the age of 27.
Bradby said: ‘I won’t spoil it, because there’s a huge amount of material in there. There you are losing your virginity.
Harry said, ‘It’s four lines or something, if that. We can talk about losing your virginity if you want.
