The Duchess of Edinburgh took her late father-in-law’s carriage into Windsor this morning – while her husband Prince Edward joined his brother Andrew on horseback.
Sophie, 58, had shared a love of carriages with the late Prince Philip, who began his competitive career in the sport later in life – when he was 52.
The mother-of-two took one of his old horse-drawn carriages for a round of Windsor Castle on Saturday wrapped up warmly in a black fleece jacket and brown gloves.
Meanwhile, at nearby Home Park, her husband Prince Edward, 59, joined his brother on his weekly horseback ride for the first time in years.
The brothers laughed and smiled as they walked the vast estate on the east side of Windsor Castle.

Both wore similar long, brown coats—while their black riding helmets could only be distinguished by a white stripe running down the middle of Andrew’s.
Andrew was later seen driving away from the estate in his Range Rover.
The busy weekend outing comes as plans for King Charles’s coronation have been leaked, reportedly to confirm who would be involved in the important day.
Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will star in the coronation procession at Westminster Abbey on May 6, the reports said.

The Prince of Wales’ children are expected to join their parents in a carriage behind Charles and Camilla, who will be in the Gold State Coach, according to rehearsal documents The Times perused.
Harry and Meghan have still not officially indicated whether they will be present at the coronation. Still, the staff makes plans so that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet can attend the festivities when they do.
It should come as no surprise that the young Wales’ take part in the procession, especially as George, 9, and Charlotte, 7, both accompanied the royal family on the Queen’s funeral procession. Louis, 4, was considered ‘too young’.
Practice plans indicate that the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children will leave the abbey, the paper reported.

A source said: “I’m sure they would also recognize the little prince’s birthday, even if it’s his grandpa’s big day.”
