Prime Video renews Secret Level for Season 2, and I hope the gaming anthology series is taken to the next level next time
- Secret level returns to Prime Video for season 2
- At this time, no release date, cast, or story details have been revealed
- The news comes after more episodes dropped on the streamer yesterday (December 17).
Secret level is getting a second season on Prime Video, even though the first season received mixed reactions from critics and fans. Nevertheless, one of the top streaming services has decided to commission more episodes following the release of the final few entries of Season 1 yesterday (December 17).
We don’t have a confirmed release date for Season 2 yet, nor do we know if any of the big stars from Season 1 will return in potential sequels to the standalone stories.
The first season features a host of big names, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kevin Hart and Keanu Reeves, all of whom provided voices for an anthology series celebrating the world of gaming, with episodes based on, among others Dungeons and dragons, Sifu, New World, Unreal tournamentAnd Warhammer 40,000 all appear.
What were the reactions to Secret Level season 1?
Currently, Secret level season 1 has a critical score of 67% on Rotten Tomatoes, meaning it’s not eligible to appear on our list of the best Prime Video shows. Reviewers are not very impressed, as Ny Breaking’s own entertainment reporter Tom Power criticized the series in our weekly recap on December 13, saying, “I’ve seen all fifteen episodes and while I can vouch for how some of them look beautiful and the Intriguing stories they tell often come across as empty, money-grabbing advertisements”.
To further fuel the “not good enough” fire, it also received five “rotten” scores from critics on the review aggregator website. So while audiences seemed happy enough to give it an 82% “Popcorn Meter” score, it didn’t do enough to win over critics.
Still, there’s always room for improvement, and I’m curious to see if Season 2 makes it onto our list of the best Prime Video shows now that the creative team has received feedback from gamers around the world. Over to you, Amazon and Blur Studio.
