Prime Minister Narendra Modi will respond to the motion of thanks to the President’s speech in the Rajya Sabha on February 7. President Droupadi Murmu delivered her speech at the joint meeting on January 31, marking the start of the budget session. After Prime Minister Modi’s speech, the Lok Sabha passed the vote of thanks, highlighting the government’s achievements and criticizing the opposition parties.
In his speech, Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence in the success of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He said the alliance would collectively secure 400 seats, of which 370 would be secured by the Bharatiya Janata Party alone (BJP). He also spoke about “Modi guarantees” to make India the world’s third-largest economy during the BJP’s next term.
“This meant that India would not become the third largest economy until 2044. We are confident that we will achieve this feat in the third term of the government itself,” the Prime Minister said.
“This is Modi’s guarantee,” he claimed in Parliament. The Prime Minister added, “Our third term will be full of big decisions… I had said from the Red Fort and also reiterated at the time of Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha that I want to see the country prosperous and at the pinnacle of success for the next. a thousand years. The third term will be the time to lay a strong foundation for the next thousand years”.
He also emphasized economic growth and controlling inflation despite ongoing global geopolitical conflicts. During the third term of his government, Modi envisioned laying a strong foundation for India’s prosperity for the next thousand years.
The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to launch a scathing attack on the Congress, accusing the Congress of being trapped in a ‘cancel culture’ and undermining India’s achievements.
“They (Congress) are canceling Vande Bharat Trains, Make in India and the new Parliament building. They are canceling every achievement of India,” said Prime Minister Modi.
The budget session, which began on January 31, will span eight sessions in 10 days and may conclude on February 9. It is the last session before the Lok Sabha elections expected in April-May. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced the release of a ‘white paper’ comparing the state of the Indian economy before and after 2014. This paper aims to analyze the economic trajectory and reforms implemented since Prime Minister Modi came to power in 2014.
