Prime members can now get some great Lord of the Rings games for free

If you’re excited about the new season of Rings of Power — or if you’re looking for an alternative way to indulge your Tolkien love — then you’ll definitely want to check out the free games available to Amazon Prime members this month. Through September 30, you can get both Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor GOTY edition, and Lego The Lord of the Rings free. Just go to the corresponding Prime Gaming page and you will be given a code that you can redeem on GOG.com for a free copy of each. The original open world Lord of the Rings game, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is an easy recommendation for fans of the Assassin’s Creed franchise or similar immersive sims. This original story takes place before the events of The Lord of the Ring features a long list of talented voice actors, including Matthew Mercer, Troy Baker, Jennifer Hale, John DiMaggio, and more.

This 2014 title may be on its old way, but its gameplay remains solid and its lower system requirements make it easy to enjoy on Steam Deck (via a third-party launcher) or other handheld gaming PCs. The GOTY Edition comes with all post-launch DLC and is currently $19.99 on Steam , but Prime Members can add it to their GOG library for free.

Somehow, the developers at Traveller’s Tales have managed to inject the trademark humor and charm of their Lego titles into a franchise that almost takes itself too seriously. Lego The Lord of the Rings features the familiar cooperative gameplay of the Lego games on top of Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, complete with voice acting from the original cast. This title currently costs $19.99 on Steam , but Amazon Prime members can pick it up for free.
