Preston North End striker Finlay Cross-Adair has been seriously injured in a car crash.

The 18-year-old, who is currently on loan at Annan Athletic in Scotland, was involved in the incident on Thursday evening.

He was seriously injured and rushed to hospital where he is currently recovering.

A statement from the Championship club said: ‘We can confirm that young professional Finlay Cross-Adair was involved in a road traffic accident on the A6 on Thursday evening, October 5.

‘Finlay suffered serious injuries as a result of the accident and is currently recovering in hospital.

Cross-Adair made his senior debut for North End in October 2022 and made six appearances in all competitions last season.

He then received his first professional contract in December 2022.

The 18-year-old was a regular in first-team training while at Preston and is a youth fan of the club.

He caught the eye of Preston manager Ryan Lowe after helping their youth team win a league and cup double in 2021-2022.

Cross-Adair has scored once and added one assist in seven games for Annan, who are currently eighth in Scottish League One, the third tier of Scottish football.
