Pressure and Release: Equine Therapy for Young Indigenous Australians

The Kimberley region of Western Australia is a beautiful place. But it is home to communities in crisis – devastated by a pattern of suicides among young Aboriginal people. A ray of hope emerges in the form of Prof. Juli Coffin, a Nyangumarta woman and mental health professional, who uses her herd of horses to create deeply felt connections between animals and humans. Prof Coffin’s program uses a culturally appropriate setting to support long-term healing for some of Australia’s most vulnerable young people.
