The wait is almost over for Donald Trump and Kamala Harris as millions of Americans prepare to flood the national polls to vote in what could be the closest election in history.
After an unprecedented and exhausting campaign – with a candidate dropping out and two assassination attempts – it will only take a few hours before the first results are announced.
All eyes will be on the seven swing states that will be crucial to victory: Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Arizona, Michigan and Nevada.
Both Harris and Trump campaigned into the dead of night on Monday to try to win the final vote, and now we have their fortunes in our own hands.

Your interactive guide to Election Day: when the polls close and when we’ll know the results
Voters began casting ballots with polls open from 5 a.m. in Vermont and 6 a.m. in several states.
The first polls in Indiana and Kentucky will close Tuesday at 6 p.m. Eastern Time.
Then the US will wait as ballots are counted across the country and the excitement begins to find out who will be the next President of the United States. For some states, the results will be announced as soon as voting ends.
But for others — especially the seven battleground states of Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Nevada and North Carolina — it could be hours or even days before we know the winner.
DailyMail.com has broken down everything you need to know – hour by hour – about the drama that will unfold – including when the polls close in each state, who is expected to win and when you can expect a result.
Tens of millions have already cast their votes
Tens of millions of Americans have already cast their votes. That includes record numbers in Georgia, North Carolina and other battleground states that could determine the winner.
On Monday, the Associated Press’ tracking of national advance voting showed that roughly 82 million ballots had already been cast — just over half of the total votes cast in the presidential election four years earlier.
Early turnout in Georgia, which has swung between Republican and Democratic candidates in the previous two presidential elections, was so robust — more than 4 million voters — that a top official in the secretary of state’s office said the big day could be a big one. can seem. “ghost town” at the ballot box.
On the plane with JD Vance in the final hours of the campaign
DailyMail.com was with Vance in ‘Trump Force Two’ as he spent the final hours of the campaign trail in a desperate bid for victory.
There was beer, donuts, lots of iced coffee, and some surprising confessions from the VP hopeful.
One of his confessions was the only thing he never talks about with the ‘superstitious’ Trump.
The first votes on Election Day have been cast in Dixville Notch and the result is NOT what people expect
The first results came in last night in the small New Hampshire town of Dixville Notch, where residents kept up the tradition of casting their votes at the stroke of midnight.
But the result was an ominous forecast of what is one of the closest races in history: 3 for Trump and 3 for Harris.
Although there is a tie, it is a sharp turn against the Democrats.
In 2020, five voters went for Biden, with only one voting red.
America locked and loaded: White House barricaded as election tensions rise
Americans are primed for civil unrest amid terrifying predictions of “blood” in today’s sharp presidential election, reviving painful memories of recent assassinations and post-2020 election mayhem.

What are the exit polls? And what will they tell us on election day?
Millions of voters are heading to the polls today to cast their votes, but it could take some time before the results are counted.
What could give worried Americans across the country some idea of where the country is headed are the exit polls that will appear once results come in on Election Day.
The exit poll is the only survey conducted entirely among voters who have already cast their votes during the elections.
It gives voters and news organizations a better picture of what’s happening on the ground with voters on Election Day and in early voting as results come in.
The poll is conducted by Edison Research, the only research firm to conduct national exit polls in the United States since 2004.
