President of UPenn defends paying Biden $400,000 year as a ‘professor’ – even though he didn’t teach any classes – during grilling by Republicans

The president of the University of Pennsylvania defended paying President Joe Biden a salary of $400,000 a year during the years he was out of government service.

UPenn President Liz Magill testified before the House Education and Workforce Committee on Tuesday about combating rising anti-Semitism on college campuses.

Rep. Mary Miller, an Illinois Republican, used her time to question Magill about Biden's apparently high salary, saying he “seemed to be in a no-show job.”

“Can you give us some insight into why Joe Biden was paid almost a million dollars by UPenn, what were his responsibilities while at UPenn? Did he teach?' Molenaar asked.

Magill said Biden was a “professor of practice” at the Philadelphia-based Ivy League school and had been on the job for just over two years.

University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill was asked about President Joe Biden's role at the Ivy League school, which paid him a $400,000 salary

She said he was paid a salary of $400,000 annually.

“We also had Mr. Jeb Bush as a professor of practice at the University of Pennsylvania,” Magill added.

Bush, a Republican, is the former governor of Florida and was an unsuccessful presidential candidate in 2016. He is also the son and brother of two former presidents.

“President Biden had a wide variety of commitments,” Magill said

She was interrupted by Miller who asked, “What obligations did he have exactly?”

“He held seminars, he was in many different classes, he interacted with thousands of students during the time he was there. He invited speakers – the purpose of the center was to… improve,” Magill continued, interrupted again.

Miller remained puzzled by the salary.

“For $400,000?” she asked.

The Illinois Republican then claimed, without citing evidence, that “anonymous Chinese donations” poured into the school after Biden was hired.

“The House Oversight Committee is going to get to the bottom of this,” Miller warned.

Since January, when Republicans took over the House of Representatives, the Republican Party-led Oversight Committee has been investigating Hunter Biden's business practices in China and Ukraine in an effort to link those deals to the president.
