President Kamala? Why Democrat insiders fear it’s now INEVITABLE that Harris will replace Biden… as new Daily Mail poll reveals how she stacks up against Trump

Democrats have a ready-made replacement ready if Joe Biden withdraws before the November election.

She has been vetted. Her election would be historic. And she would easily take over the Biden mantle.

There’s just one problem: Her name is Kamala Harris, and she is by all accounts the most unpopular vice president in American history. She is also one of the people least likely to beat Donald Trump in a general election.

But the Democrats may still be stuck with her.

Former Democratic National Committee Chair Donna Brazile explained the party’s challenge most clearly.

“How in the world are you going to prioritize all these white people over Kamala?” she said last week.

Harris’ liberal supporters are already lining up to support her as the next leader of the Democratic Party, over other, more capable candidates such as California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Michigan’s Gretchen Whitmer.

On Tuesday, Tim Ryan, former Democratic congressman from Ohio, called it “absolutely ridiculous” and “insulting” to deny Harris the chance to succeed Biden.

Hours later, South Carolina Rep. James E. Clyburn, once the second-highest-ranking Democrat in the House, said he would also support Harris if Biden were to leave office.

That leaves many Democratic donors, left-wing commentators and even party loyalists feeling hopeless.

Now an exclusive new poll from DailyMail.com may back up the whining with hard numbers.

According to a poll of 1,000 likely voters conducted in the days after Biden’s disastrous CNN debate performance last Thursday, Harris would lose to Donald Trump by 11 percentage points in a hypothetical straight-line election: 38 percent to 49 percent.

Biden, who struggled to form complete sentences for 90 minutes on live TV, trailed Trump by just five points in a head-to-head contest: 42 percent to 47 percent.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama also outperformed Harris, falling five points short of Trump.

President Kamala Why Democrat insiders fear its now INEVITABLE that

All other names mentioned as possible Biden replacements — Whitmer, Newsom, Transportation Secretary Peter Buttigieg — are losing to Trump by double digits.

But while they are undoubtedly unlikable, these Democrats are not as well-known to the public as Harris, and so it is likely easier for them to improve their image.

“Kamala Harris has high name recognition, which means her brand is harder to change,” said pollster James Johnson, who conducted the Mail survey. “Unlike other candidates who are a blank slate for voters and can more easily define themselves, Harris brings a lot of baggage.”

When the Mail’s respondents were asked to describe the vice president in one word, the most common answer was “incompetent.”

In a sign of Democratic support, the second most-heard word was “competent” — not exactly effusive praise — followed by “strong,” “dumb,” “corrupt,” “terrible” and “stupid.”

In public, Harris has developed a reputation for delivering copious amounts of “word salad”—a phrase she uses to describe her muddled explanations of seemingly simple concepts.

During a visit to a children’s hospital in May, Harris said, “We all believe that when we talk about the children of the community, they are the children of the community.”

A comedian on the Democratic-leaning “The Daily Show” criticized her flashy style, saying she “spoke without thinking.”

Early in the Biden administration, the president tasked Harris with addressing the growing illegal immigration crisis.

Three months later, when NBC News’ Lester Holt asked her why she hadn’t even visited the southern border, Harris oddly insisted that she had had.

“We’ve been to the border,” she claimed.

“You haven’t been to the border,” Holt replied.

“And I haven’t been to Europe,” Harris replied with an awkward laugh. “I mean, I don’t know what you mean.”

The following year, Harris avoided sit-down interviews, and even Biden described his VP as a “work in progress.”

Whitney Tilson, a top Democratic fundraiser and former hedge fund manager, said this week that Harris is “one of the candidates least likely to beat Trump, based on my polling, a lot of feedback from friends and readers, and my own observations.”

In a painfully revealing moment on the liberal enclave of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Tuesday, host Mika Brzezinski let out an audible sigh as her interviewee explained how Harris could become the Democrats’ standard-bearer.

“That was me. That was totally me,” she admitted.

Meanwhile, Democratic strategist Hank Sheinkopf admitted it would be difficult to sell Harris to the American public as their next commander in chief.

“She’s going to have to establish herself as a world leader. That’s very difficult,” Sheinkopf told the Mail.

Harris’s run in the 2020 presidential primaries was a near-unmitigated disaster.

She dropped out before the first race, having failed to garner any support from the electorate, but not before confronting Biden on the debate stage about his record on racial issues.

She attacked him for his one-time opposition to the transportation of minority children to schools where the majority were white.

“There was a girl in California who was in the eighth grade and went to public school, and she was bused to school every day,” Harris said. “That girl was me.”

Jill Biden reportedly became enraged by the insult during a phone call with her supporters, saying: “You’re going to stand there and call him a racist with no basis? Go fuck yourself.”

Despite Jill’s anger and Harris’ political ineptitude, Biden ultimately chose her as his vice president. This happened under pressure from the identity-obsessed progressive wing of the party, who demanded that he put a black woman on the Democratic ticket.

Furthermore, Biden indicated that he would only serve one term and that Kamala would be the next to lead the party.

I see myself as a bridge [president]”Not as anything else,” the then 78-year-old candidate assured a Detroit crowd in March 2020, after concerns were raised about his age. “There’s a whole generation of leaders that you saw standing behind me. They’re the future of this country.”

Those comments undoubtedly haunted him.

“Biden can’t say he’s going to step down and not pass the torch to Kamala,” Republican strategist Scott Jennings told the Mail. “That would mean she was never qualified in the first place.”

And that’s not the only obstacle for anti-Harris Democrats.

During a call with party donors on Sunday, Biden campaign manager Julie Chávez Rodriguez explained that only Harris would be eligible to spend the $91.2 million raised by the campaign.

Under Federal Election Commission rules, the money is not transferable to another candidate.

That means if someone other than Harris becomes the nominee, the money would have to go back to the donors, who could then decide whether to support the new candidate.

Ironically, DailyMail.com reporter Charlie Spiering wrote in his book: ‘Amateur Hour: Kamala Harris in the White House’that Biden is only running for a second term because he has no confidence that his Vice President can defeat Donald Trump.

Now he may have no say in it at all.
