President Biden has teamed up with the USA World Cup team and captain Tyler Adams for a clever video to wish the team luck ahead of Saturday’s showdown against the Netherlands.
The USMNT will face the Netherlands in the round of 16 of the tournament and victory would equal the longest run in World Cup history with a place in the quarterfinals.
Midfielder Adams is filmed at a USA training session at Al Gharafa Stadium in Doha with the ball at his feet and shouting into the camera: “Hello Mr. President, go ahead!”
Adams then tosses the ball up high and sends a powerful pass over the camera, before the scene cuts to 6,892 miles away towards the White House.

There, the ball appears to land in the Rose Garden, where President Biden is on hand to catch it.
Wearing his USA scarf, Biden picks up the ball and says, ‘It’s called football. Come on USA! You guys are going to do it!’
Biden tweeted the video with the caption: ‘Nice kick Tyler Adams. Come on USMNT!’
The victory for the USA would see the team equal their best run in a World Cup by reaching the quarterfinal stage of the tournament.
Biden also sent a message to Team USA before the tournament began in Qatar. He spoke to coach Gregg Berhalter and his team on the phone and said: ‘Guys, I know you’re not the favourites.
‘But I tell you what a man, you have some of the best players in the world on your team and you are representing this country and I know you are going to play your heart out. So let’s surprise them all.
“Keep trusting each other, play as hard as you can, and know that you and your families, your teammates and the entire country are behind you.”

Christian Pulisic should be fine to play after getting injured scoring for the USA against Iran
Star man Christian Pulisic is set to start for Gregg Berhalter’s side, despite injuring his pelvis scoring the decisive goal against Iran on Tuesday.
Pulisic ran into Sergino Dest’s header through the Iran penalty area to score, but his momentum sent him crashing into rival goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand in the 38th minute.
The Chelsea attacker played the remainder of the first half, but went wide at half-time and was taken to hospital for scans.
If the United States beat the Netherlands, Lionel Messi and Argentina will likely be the quarterfinal opponent. The South American team faces Australia in the round of 16.
