Prepare yourself: your Google Workspace subscription is about to see an unwanted price increase
Google Workspace has confirmed that it will implement price increases to its plans very soon, in news that was expected but will still hurt users.
The news follows an announcement in March 2023 that showed a 20% increase for all Business plans.
At the time the changes only applied to new customers, but existing customers are now facing the same price increases, a new report from 9To5Google.
The price of Google Workspace will increase by 20% for everyone
Pricing for the Business plans is $7.20 for Starter, $14.40 for Standard, and $21.60 for Plus, which is a pretty significant increase from the previous prices of $6, $12, and $18 respectively.
Enterprise plans are also not exempt from the adjustments, which came into effect in 2023. Prices are based on a number of variables, including the number of seats and services required, but increases of 38% and 54% have been recorded by some. customers (via 9To5Google).
Although Google previously announced the changes, the actual rollout for existing customers has caught some subscribers off guard.
The company has also been working to adjust its prices to better align the local currency with the cost of its products, and align exchange rates with the U.S. dollar.
Furthermore, Google isn’t the only company raising prices for its customers. Many digital service subscriptions have increased in price, including the consumer-oriented Apple One plan, which went from $29.95 to $32.95 at the end of 2022, and again to $37.95 at the end of 2023, for a total increase of 27 % means.
Ring, the maker of popular video doorbells, has also been in the news recently for price increases, with UK customers paying up to 43% more per year (via the BBC).
Ny Breaking asked Google to confirm its current pricing strategy for existing customers, but the company did not immediately respond.
