Prepare for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom by testing your knowledge of Hyrule’s map
There are many ways you can prepare The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom ahead of the May 12 release date, hear from the franchise’s top content creators and replay some of the games. Maybe it’s time to pick up the Zelda encyclopedia. Or you can test your knowledge of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild‘s huge map using HyruleGuessra twist on the real-world GeoGuessr game.
GeoGuessr, the original game, is simple: the program retrieves a Google Street View image and the player guesses where in the world this image was taken. Players drop a pin on a location on a world map and indicate their answer. There are tricks to this, of course – street signs or well-known landmarks can be a clue to an area. HyruleGuessr takes that simple premise, but turns the map into Breath of the Wild‘s Hyrule.
There are five rounds of HyruleGuessr, each featuring a screenshot of Link facing Hyrule. He could stare at the dense jungles of Faron or the swamps of the Lanayru Wetlands. Is that the Thundra Plateau, where it always storms? Or maybe that’s the strange, upturned trees of Ludfo’s Bog. Once you have an answer, mark it on the Hyrule map and move on to the next round. You are scored based on how close your guess is to the actual location.
Creator Nimarzel said HyruleGuessr was inspired by a similar game set up in a Discord channel. Map size estimates are based on on a Reddit post from EngineeringHyruleaccording to the description on the the about page of the game website.
HyruleGuessr gives players options to change the parameters of the game, such as setting a time limit for guesses. Other users have created challenges to test Hyrule knowledge, and there’s a ranked mode with three games of increasing difficulty – leaderboard included. Players can also submit screenshots for in-game consideration, adding to the already vast collection.
We know Tears of the Kingdom takes place in the same world as Breath of the Wild, so some map knowledge is nice to have. Naturally, Tears of the KingdomHyrule’s version adds air islands and other changes, so there’s bound to be a lot more to discover. If you’re totally tired of Hyrule, you might enjoy passing the time with it Genshin effect, Elder ringor World of Warcraft versions of GeoGuessr.
